Hey All!

Pretty new to the BGG community, but have been playing Legendary for a while. I play mostly solo and I'm seeing all these different weekly challenges and leagues and whatnot and it looks perfect for me. I was wondering if they're all different, the quirks to each, etc etc...

Welcome to the Forums! We have a few different challenges that are posted to the general forums here. Right now we have 2 competitive centered challenges from users Darth Ed and Travelsized. If you don't have that many expansion I recommend Travelsized's Legendary Starter League. If you have most the expansions feel free to check out Darth Ed's Legendary Online League.

Starter League:http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/200838/legendary-start...
Online League:http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1577336/legendary-online...

Or if you'd much rather non-competitive challenges you can find users Jacovis and MasterGM and their Weekly Challenges.

Jacovis Weekly Challenge:http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1008529/weekly-challenge-sub...
MasterGM Weekly Challenge:http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1375425/all-new-weekly-c...

Whichever you choose, I wish you good luck.

My wife and I are big fans of these two. I like them because Jacovis and MasterGM have already both come up with a thematic backstory which makes sense to the teenage Marvel Zombie in me, and seemingly tested out the scenarios for challenge level. I also like the social aspect of them, where we all post how we did with the challenge.

As both those Weekly Challenges have been on hiatus lately and we've run through most or all of them, we've lately started going through Ranger Rob's Legendary Campaign, and enjoying it very much:
https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1226852/rangerrobs-marvel-u...

Also, DontFeedTheGreen has a "Choose Your Own Adventure" campaign that looks interesting: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1618667/dontfeedthegreens-c...

I'd also recommend the Starter Leagues and the larger Online League. I've really enjoyed playing along with these. If you subscribe to the most recent thread from each, they'll generally provide links when new leagues are about to start.

I've never got around to playing the weekly challenges but they seem like good fun.

If you're in the mood for something more like a campaign, Itai's Choose-Your-Own-Adventure campaign was a great idea:
https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1590168/legendary-adventure...

And I liked the idea so much I made my own similar poor-cousin versions:

Thank you so much, everyone!! I'll probably start out with the non competitive ones, for now. Then maybe at the start of next month I'll jump into the others.

I have the Base Set, along with Dark City, Paint the Town Red, and Secret Wars Vol. 1 and 2.

Printer Studio is a popular choice, it can be a bit pricey for some. I would look for a guide on printing custom cards, I haven't done it myself yet but I have heard that the quality is very good for the price. Considering these campaign cards aren't mixed with any of the actual Legendary decks I'm sure you could get away with something cheaper, but I don't think Printer Studio is that bad. Let us know how it goes!

EDIT: If you do have a decent printer I'm sure you could just cut out the cards with scissors.

Yeah, Printer Studio isnt TOO expensive... Being just for a campaign, and not technically part of the game, I dont think it would be too big of a deal to just print them out on thicker paper.

If you sleeve your cards with clear sleeves, the general consensus on here is to just print them out on regular paper at home (or at work devil) and sleeve them with one of the double-sided blank cards you get with the big box expansions.

If you use opaque sleeves, it's just as easy but you don't even need to worry about what card is behind it - a regular poker-sized playing card works fine.

The problem on custom cards only really comes into play if you don't sleeve your cards. Unless you play with all customs, or get a set professionally printed from Printer Studio or CowCow, you'll be stuck mixing and matching your Hero and Villain deck with custom cards and official cards, and you'll always know which one is coming when you go to draw the card.

Hi Jerome! I might also recommend taking a look at the following set of challenge matches to get a handle on how some of the league play works. It's not as restrictive as a formal league (you're allowed to repeat heroes and replay matches, for example) but you can get an idea of how the scoring would work and try out a few strategies.

http://www.legendaryleagues.com/#/leagues/202

This is from a series I set up for the summer that was built around the core set cards, but you can use any heroes you want. You'll just need to create an account and then go to your profile to tell the system which sets you own.

There's still a couple of days left to join the current Starter League, featuring Secret Wars Vol 2. The matches have been pretty brutal so far, but fun and exciting. Next month's league will use the Villains set.

So I joined up over there. I may try to play that 2nd Match tonight. I was wondering. What rules do you play with? I normally play solo, and when I do, I use the Golden Solo Rules. Would I need to revert back to the normal Base Set Solo Rules, or the Dark City Advanced Solo Rules?

That's why I provided a simple PDF with all the cards laid out instead of single images. A lot easier to print, and it's not really necessary to print the through Printer Studio. A small tip would be to slip a small piece of paper with the Card # into the back, so you could easily find them when the stack is face down.

Dark City Advanced Solo Rules.

If you haven't tried them yet, do give them a shot.

I played Golden Solo for months when I first got Legendary, then tried Dark City Advanced Solo and never went back.

Both leagues run using the Dark City Advanced solo rules. You can find them, and other clarifications in the About menu on the website.
