This may be entirely counter to the spirit of this game, but here goes: If you want to try Corundum Conundrum, but never have exactly four players for it, I can report that it's pretty fun with two human players each partnered with a dummy, where each dummy simply plays the top card from its unseen-by-anyone face-down card-stack. We used the basic deck + suit tokens, followed the rules in the revised Decktet Book, but omitted the card exchange between partners. The dummy version plays faster (the two dummy players make their choices very quickly!), feels lighter (because your dummy partner may be counted on to defect to the opposite team on a regular basis, and you have no human partner to bitterly disappoint with suboptimal play, so the pressure's off), and adds a bit of push-your-luck flavor. We played two 4-deal games. The humans exchanged seats between games, but we did not detect any particular advantage linked to sitting immediately to the left or right of the dummies. There might be one, but it's subtle.
