Hi All,

It’s time to invite all the WW2 tactical combat heads out there to participate in the Brisbane tournaments for Squad Leader in any/all of its basic forms for 2017!

The format of meeting individually at our leisure to play a series of rounds over a period of months on a no-fee basis worked well again in the ASL tourneys this year. In fact two ASL tourneys were run at different rules levels between January and May including players travelling from the Gold Coast and Toowoomba! Jackson K was the victor in the 5 round Main Tourney, and Steve B the victor in the 3 round Minor. Several players still have busy and unpredictable schedules, so it is proposed that a similar flexible format will continue for 2017 as follows:

• Players meet individually at their leisure to play their rounds, forwarding the results as the rounds are played until we have a winner (over a period of months if necessary)
• Rounds must be face-to-face to preserve the local association flavour of the tournaments
• Players outside the Brisbane area are very welcome to be involved, but should not expect other players to travel outside the Brisbane area in order to meet
• Beginners are encouraged, and players do not have to own game components in order to participate (arrangements will be made to cover this)

If you think you might like to participate, or you’d like to suggest alternative formats, please reply by 15 Sept 2016 stating one or more of the broad forms of the game in which you are interested. This is with a view to getting tournaments underway early in the new year.

ie: Squad Leader (SL), Advanced Squad Leader Starter Kit (ASLSK), Advanced Squad Leader (ASL).

Further specification of tournament timing and format, and rules standards to cater for individual experience will be discussed later with those who indicate their interest.

Please be aware that the tourney format selected may restrict numbers and/or experience levels as it did last year. Unless there is a call for change, the tournament will once again be an entirely FREE event.

You may reply via this thread or by personal message on site. Remember that beginners are welcome and will be catered for.

Oh, and for those who don't know what Advanced Squad Leader (ASL) is, it's a very detailed World War II tactical combat board game. Just punch it into the search box here on site and all will be revealed!

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Mike.

I would be interested in trying this in 2017. I am moderately experienced with ASL but I have never played in a competition or tourney.

Cheers, Joe

No worries Joe, there's plenty of good combat to be had at any experience level. I'll flick you a PM and get you started.
