So I've been going through all my custom creation files I never published, and trashing some and finishing others.

This was the second Villain I ever designed, and he has remained largely the same since day 1. He's not flashy or complex, but he is a solid experience and rather fun.

His inspiration is pretty clearly the Hulk, the angrier he gets the stronger he gets.

Alaric, 85 hp

Nemesis: Knuckles

Science of Domination

Setup:
Put Alaric's character cards into play, Science of Domination side up. Search the Villain deck for (H)-3 Rage cards and put them into play, shuffle the deck.

Gameplay:
At the start of the villain turn if there are 5 or more Rage cards in play flip Alaric’s character card.
At the end of the villain turn put a Rage or Focus card in the Villain trash into play, then deal each non-villain target (H)-2 Fire damage.
Whenever Alaric destroys an environment card play the top card of his deck.
Advanced:
Damage dealt by Alaric cannot be redirected.

Unstoppable Brute

Gameplay
At the end of the Villain turn, if there are 2 or fewer Rage cards in play flip Alaric’s character card.
At the Start of the Villain turn destroy a Rage card, if you do, deal the Hero target with the highest HP (H) Melee damage.
Reduce the first damage dealt to Alaric each turn by X, where X is the number of Rage cards in play.
Advanced:
At the Start of each Hero turn, Alaric deals the active hero 1 psychic damage.

Building Rage: 8
Ongoing, RAGE
The first time Alaric deals damage each turn, increase that damage by one.
If this card is destroyed by a Hero Card, Alaric deals that hero 1 Infernal damage.

Ongoing, Focus 4

Shielded by Hate 1
Ongoing, Focus
The first time each turn Alaric would be dealt X or fewer damage redirect that damage to the highest HP hero target, where X = the number of Rage cards in play.

Fueled by Anger 1
Ongoing, Focus
At the start of the Villain turn Alaric regains X HP, where X = the number of Rage cards in play.

Dark Aura 1
Ongoing, Focus
At the end of the Villain turn Alaric deals the X non-villain targets with the Highest HP 1 irreducible Infernal damage, where X = the number of Rage cards in play.

Cleansing Fury 1
Ongoing, Focus
At the start of the villain turn, if the effect of a hero card would prevent Alaric from playing cards or dealing damage destroy a rage card. If a Rage card is destroyed this way prevent that hero card effect until the start of a hero turn.

One-shots 13

Inner Fire 4
One-Shot
Reveal cards from the top of the villain deck until a Rage card is revealed, put it into play. Discard the other revealed cards.
If no cards are put into play this way Alaric deals each non-villain target 2 fire damage and play the top card of the Villain deck.

Driven by Pain 3
One-Shot
Search the Villain trash for a Rage card and put it into play.
Alaric deals the Highest HP Hero Target (H)-2 Cold Damage and (H)-2 Melee Damage

Building Rage 3
One-Shot
Reveal the top (H) cards of the Villain deck, put any revealed Rage or Focus cards into play, shuffle the rest of the revealed cards into the Villain deck.
Alaric deals the Hero Target with the Highest HP X melee damage, where X=the number of cards shuffled into the villain deck.

Reckless Destruction 3
One-Shot
Destroy X non-character, non-villain cards where X = the number of Rage cards in play.
Alaric deals each target 1 Sonic damage.

Story:
Werner Ehlrich was working on a formula to restore nerve function in damaged brain tissue.
It showed great promise, but it threw off the emotional center of the brain, and in functional doses would alter the personality of the patient.
Nefarious groups became aware of his work, and coveted his formula for its regenerative and temperament altering properties.
Werner was captured, and forced to work on a variation of his formula that would not only regenerate neural tissue, but build stronger and tougher bodies as well.
He cooperated until a small team of heroes broke into the compound, defeated many of the soldiers and liberated many of the captives.

Werner was not among the liberated, but his family was. Werner saw this as the helicopter he and his work were being evacuated in was taking off. Seeing his family safe Werner injected himself with a massive dose of his serum and destroyed the helicopter and his captors.

Werner expected to die, and take his formula with him. But he didn't. Instead he was altered, growing stronger and tougher and more aggressive. He began to care less about returning to his family, and more about seeking revenge on those that captured him. He improved his formula, growing stronger, quicker, more intelligent and yet more and more angry.

Werner, now operating as Alaric, commits all sorts of crimes to fuel his research and gain contacts and information that someday he hopes will lead him to those he seeks revenge on. Until that time he will allow nothing to stand in his way, not morals, or law, or heroes, or even his family.

Nifty.

Some of the ongoing cards just say "Deal... damage" but should probably be "Alaric deals... damage"

Very cool backstory, and he seems very straightforward, as you said.
