Anyone here in Sydney considering going to the LFG event in Canberra on 11-13 November?

Definitely thinking about it. I really enjoyed LFG Sydney. Would love to do a road trip to go check it out.

In case you didn't know, don't expect a repeat of the Sydney event: not sure if plans have changed but Charles previously said the intention was basically to just get a bunch of new games from Essen and dump them out for people to learn/play.

Definitely don't expect the same organized play, demo support, traders etc.

That works fine for me.

Ack! I've got something planned on the Saturday, so it won't be worthwhile heading down. Cancon I guess.

That sounds great to me, but the people I was thinking of going with wouldn't like that format at all. Bummer.

Hey everyone,

I'm happy to discuss plans for LFG Canberra, and the differences in format between this and LFG Syd. LFGCan will be much more like a 3 day boardgame party ala Bordercon - no publishers, no LFG-run tournaments. Instead we're renting out a sports club for a long weekend, bringing all our games + all the latest releases from Essen, and inviting everyone to game.

It'll be smaller than LFGSyd, but no less fun. We are, of course, open to attendees setting up their own mini-comps, tournaments or RPG sessions, but our primary focus is on giving Canberra an awesome environment in which to bust open a ton of excellent titles. There's also been talk of auctioning off the games we bring back from Essen.

Any questions you have, shoot!

Hi Chris,
Great work on LFG Sydney!
Would LFG Canberra be kid-friendly (say, for a 7 year old)?

Hi Bronny,

If your 7 year old is up for an all-day boardgames party, I think so! But I don't think there'll be many children there - with limited tickets and a strong focus on newly released titles from Essen, many kids would feel out of their depth. It's entirely up to the 7 year old's experience in gaming

A quick update - we're budgeting close to $10,000 for Essen releases, which gets us a big chunk of games + shipping costs. If there's an Essen release you'd like to crack open at LFGCanberra, sound off and we'll put it on the shortlist!

No love for Bios:Genesis on that list? You picked everything else I was interested in and more.

And I should add that with this starting the day after my wife's birthday and ending 2 days before my daughter's birthday means I don't have a snowballs chance in hell of attending. Damn.

Hey everyone! We're now running a Facebook poll to figure out which games to bring back from Essen. A lot of Tigger's list is already represented there, but add anything we're missing and vote up your faves! https://www.facebook.com/events/621132871388364/permalink/62...

Chris, is there an LFG game library these go into after the con or do they get sold?

Hi Steve,

All the games that aren't raffled off will become part of the LFG Games Library, which we take to our events in Can, Syd and Melb.

I've managed to clear my weekend, so I'll be good to go!

Now I just have to find accommodation.

There seems to be several Southern Cross Clubs in Canberra. Is it the one in Tuggeranong?

Huge thanks to everyone who made it to LFG Canberra! Despite some setbacks (a couple titles delayed at sea, boooo!) we ended up with over 200 attendees across the 3 days, over 100 new and rare Essen titles, good times from morning until midnight, some awesome new friendships, and what feels like a solid new addition to Canberra's annual gaming lineup. Bring on 2017!
