I am a long time player of many FFG games. This includes Descent and all of its iterations. I am older than virtually everyone on this forum. I also suffer from some severe medical conditions, one of which is robbing me of my short term memory.

All of this, of course, makes it very difficult for me to remember specific cards, text on the cards, etc., which makes it hard to participate within some discussions without first getting my game out, reading the cards in question, and then getting back to the forum.

This obviously does not make it very conducive to participating in the forum. Figuring that there are probably others out there that even if they do have good memories really don't want to have to drag the game out, find a particular card, etc. just to participate in a thread, I have decided to develop a technology solution to the issue.

Hence, I created a Google Chrome Extension called D2e Companion Card Viewer.

Essentially, what it will do is underline in red key names of D2e cards. When you move your mouse over those names that are underlined, an image of the card will automatically appear.

Below, as a test, you will see the names of five different Search cards. If you hover over them, you should see an image of the actual card. For the Secret Passage card, since there are actually two of them from two different expansions, you will see the card twice, side by side.

Stamina Potion
Power Potion
Treasure Chest
Nothing
Secret Passage

The tool can show virtually all of the cards for all of the expansions of D2e, and currently works on the sites: Board Game Geek and Fantasy Flight Games.

Here is a link to the extension for Chrome:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/d2e-companion-card...

You can also follow the on-going development and discussion of the tool in a thread on FFG here:

https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/224136-d2e-co...

All feedback is welcome !

Wow.
I don't know if I can figure out any use for it to enhance my gaming experience, but I admire the skills and craftiness. A job well done!

It doesn't enhance the gaming experience as much as it helps with discussions online. Instead of having to type out the text on a card anyone using the extension can hover over the name and read it. It has been on the FFG forums for a few months and it is fantastic!

Is there any way we can add domains ourselves to the list of those it will enhance? I have a game on another site that would greatly benefit from having such reference available.

Unfortunately, no. If, however, the site you wish to use could be a benefit to others, I have no problem adding it for you.

The site in question is https://roll20.net/

I have Descent set up there with the components of my physical collection.

I am a bit confused. I visited the web site, and I went through most of the various pages, and did not see Descent anywhere.

I am sure you understand that the only value of the tool I created is to show D2e cards in-line.

So, I can only surmise that I must not have access to the areas that you would use that actually have D2e content. Is this correct?

Roll20 is a site set up to let you host games of your choosing, mostly RPGs but it supports board and card games, if you're willing to do image uploads.

I have a few on there. One of which is https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/1285866/descent-ove...

There are images of card fronts on there (for monsters) but for reasons of respect for FFG's legal policies I don't host the information contained on the back of those cards.

I am not authorized to access the link you provided. No worries. If you feel it will be of help, I will be happy to add it and post a new version. I will reply here when I get it done, but expect it sometime before end of tomorrow (Wednesday, August 24th).

Jason ... Version 1.8.4 of the app has been published.

I have added the roll20 website to the domain list. Since I can't access it, I have no way to test it. So I would appreciate it if you would test it for me and make sure that it is correctly identifying key words, underlining them, and displaying the cards when you hover over them.

For all others, due to another request, I have added the Subreddit for D2e to the domain list as well.

I now realize my error in the link. Roll20 has a peculiar permissions setup where you need to have a separate "Join this game" page which is identical to the information page I linked to.

https://app.roll20.net/join/1285866/TCovVQ

If I (as one who is already part of the game group in question) use that link it brings me to the other one that I posted above.

Test results:
It does function on the domain, though not in-game The "chat log" provides links while the live one does not. The game also has clickable "Handout" style things that produce a miniature window in-game which the extension does not catch, BUT! Said miniature windows can also be made as their own full windows and the extension does function in them.

We thus have a successful implementation in Roll20!

The new link you provided also does not work for me. It basically insists that I setup an account for Roll20.

Anyway, I am glad that it seems to be functioning in some manner for you. Basically, the extension is looking for the following match on the URL:

"*://*.roll20.net/*"

If some window is popping up that does not match the above (or game mode does not), but does consistently match something, if you let me know what that is, I can set that within the domain match as well.

The trouble I think is that the in-game interface uses different coding than forum and other stuff so the Extension won't function with it. It's hard to describe what I mean without a demonstration. I don't really know any coding languages myself so I can't provide helpful information

I can thank you, and I will. Thank you.

Small typo found for the 'Summon - Zachareth' card. Your file is titled "summon-zacareth" which lacks the H after the C. I did some digging and renaming and finally found it.

Other small though probably more pressing (because of the lack of reference) problem: The back of the a-lady eliza farrow cards seem to be missing.

I am really sorry for not replying to this sooner. For some reason, I wasn't notified of this post.

I have corrected both errors noted above. Thank you for pointing this out.
