The stronger effect of Concentration says "if that effect gives you move, influence, block... Get that amount plus 2"

Maximal Effect says "throw away another action card... Use the stronger effect"

The question is whether this then benefits from Concentration given that Maximal Effect is calling the card, or whether Concentration can only apply to numbers directly printed on the card you use it against. Maximal is giving me the effect, but indirectly. Is that enough?

The stronger effect of Maximal Effect does not give move, influence, block, or attack so you don't get +2.

But, you can still use Concentration to get the stronger effect of Maximal Effect for "free".

In other words, Concentration refers specifically to the effect that is stated on the card you're using it on.

More useful though is using Maximal Effect on Concentration to play the stronger effect of some other cards with the +2!

There's lots of threads on this already.

What David did not repeat is that, buried in the second thread that David linked, he states that concentration does work to give +2 to Maximal Effect. It was cited by Paul, an official source for MK rules.

In his given example, you can use Concentrate to play Maximal Effect, throwing away Swiftness, and you get Range Attack 8.

And follow up to better explain why Ranged Attack 8 and not 10. It's usually enough to follow the cards' texts step-by-step.

1. You play Concentration for its stronger effect, paying a green mana token.
2. Following the text, you play another Action card for its stronger effect for free. You choose Maximal Effect.
2.1. You play Maximal Effect for its stronger effect, without paying a red mana token.
2.2. Following the text, you play another Action card twice for its stronger effect for free. You choose Swiftness.
2.2.1. You play Swiftness for its stronger effect, without paying a white mana token; you get Ranged Attack 3.
2.2.2. You play Swiftness a second time for its stronger effect; again, without paying any mana; you get Ranged Attack 3.
2.2.3. Swiftness is thrown away.
2.3. Maximal Effect has been completely resolved, giving Ranged Attack 6.
3. Following the rest of the text on the Concentration card; whatever Maximal Effect has given us, we get +2. Thus, Concentration gives us Ranged Attack 8.
4. We either use Ranged Attack 8 to attack a single enemy/a group of enemies together, or we play more (eligible) attack cards to stack them.

And here is the reverse.

1. You play Maximal Effect for its stronger effect, paying a red mana token.
2. Following the text, you play another Action card twice for its stronger effect for free. You choose Concentration.
2.1. You play Concentration (once) for its stronger effect, without paying a green mana token.
2.2. Following the text, you play another Action card for its stronger effect for free. You choose Swiftness.
2.2.1. You play Swiftness for its stronger effect, without paying a white mana token; you get Ranged Attack 3.
2.3. Following the rest of the text on the Concentration card; whatever Swiftness has given us, we get +2. Thus, Concentration gives us Ranged Attack 5.
3.1. You play Concentration a second time for its stronger effect; again, without paying any mana.
3.2. Following the text, you play another Action card for its stronger effect for free. You choose Swift Bolt.
3.2.1. You play Swift Bold for its stronger effect, without paying a white mana token; you get Ranged Attack 4.
3.3. Following the rest of the text on the Concentration card; whatever Swift Bolt has given us, we get +2. Thus, Concentration gives us Ranged Attack 6.
4. Concentration has been fully resolved twice, giving us totally Ranged Attack 11.
5. Concentration is thrown away.
6. We either use Ranged Attack 11 to attack a single enemy/a group of enemies together, or we play more (eligible) attack cards to stack them.
