It's hard, cause the pre-order for it is $65, but you have to wait til March.

However, you can buy now for $79. But honestly, that is $20 more than the retail and you can spend that extra $20 on something else.

If I were you, I would place a pre-order and then wait or see if a online retailer sells it. I would go with the latter cause that is what i'm doing right now.

Edit: It's actually 65 not 60.

To be fair they may have had to pay the retail price to get it. It did not enter retail via distributors as far as I know.

Given that the cheapest copy on the geekmarket right now is $140 that doesn't seem ridiculous for a game near the top of the 'hotness' that's essentially sold out. If any of the shops here in the bay area had a copy it would be really difficult to walk away. Still, it's a lot of money, but if you want to play the game before next Spring that's the way to go.

I'm building my own pnp copy, and there is a non-trivial amount of work involved in crafting the game. Cheaper than $79, but it's a lot of work.

Don't underestimate how much the ink costs -- especially if you print in "quality" mode. I expect I've got at least $30 into my PnP set.

$79 now vs waiting several months potentially. I'd purchase it. We're talking a few bucks ($65 + shipping). Brick and mortar stores have rent to pay too you know.

Buy it...if you hate it you can sell it used for more than you paid for it. There is no reason at all to hold off until Xmas.

Yeah, $19 over MSRP isn't terrible. The people selling the KS for $150 are crazy. The ONLY thing different than my $60 copy is the black and white box sleeve. That's not worth a hundred bucks to me.

Could someone contact me about which store it is? I can't prevent what is happening but I'm not excited about it either.

Please consider the pre-order I am very close to just funding it myself.

I don't approve of store taking a game they received through normal distribution and jacking up the price, but if the game is out of print and they acquired it on the retail market then I think it's fine for them to sell it for whatever they can. IMHO

As a fellow consumer, I heartily agree.

But our approval aside, in a free-market economy, stores may charge whatever product at whichever price they want. If no one wants it at that price, it will become cheaper as time goes by until it reaches a price equilibrium.

Econ 101.
1. Identify a want.
2. Make the want become a need.
3. Own as many of this need as you can.
4. When you have largest inventory of this need in your region, PROFIT$$!
Monopolies are born this way.

They didn't receive it thorough "normal distribution," they bought it through kickstarter or at GenCon, meaning they paid $45 if they kickstarted it, or $60 at GenCon. Given that distro to shelf is usually a 50% markup, they're getting less for the copy than they usually would have.
