So on the game mat to the left of the 4 upgrade/strike slots for Serenity, there are credit icons with either a 1 or a 2 next to them. What are those for, exactly?

Between episodes, you can use credits to heal a ship strike. That icon is how many credits it takes to heal the ship strike in that spot.

Remember ship upgrades are added top down. Ship Strikes are added bottom up.

You can also repair Ship Strikes in-episode, but it requires Recruit.

To repair Ship Strikes in-episode, you must pay the amount of Recruit listed inside the star on the Ship Strike card itself (although there is one ship strike with an ongoing ability that states you can't repair it in-episode).

To repair Ship Strikes between episodes, you pay the amount of Credits printed on the game mat next to the slot containing the ship strike (though there is also a particular ship strike whose Ongoing ability is that it cannot be repaired between episodes).
