Okay admittedly the tile is hyperbole, and maybe everyone knows this already but I've never seen anyone else do this and people are always surprised they never thought of this when I show them so I thought I would finally get around to posting about here.I'm about to show you why the humble sandwich bag is the best way to store game components.

You see if you simply invert the seal so it's inside out.

Then you can pull the top half of the bag down over the bottom and make a perfect cup/bowl.

It stays upright and open so it's easy to get bits out or drop them back in.You get almost all the benefits of hard plastic containers with a fraction of the cost and storage space. Plus you probably already have your bits in bags anyway.

What do you think? Will you be doing this in the future? Do you do it already? Do you only use artisan custom inserts and think this looks tacky? Do you prefer your bits all dumped in free range heaps on the table? Or maybe you just throw every cube you get into a swimming pool and jump in Scrooge McDuck Style?

I was expecting to have to click through 4 pages to see the entire trick.

Nice idea, my only concerns would be durability of the bag and arranging it so that you don't lost bits in scrunched up folds etc

They hold up surprisingly well. I buy cheap store brand bags and I've inverted some of them at least a dozen times with no ill effect. Some times the edges above the seal will split but even then they still work. Plus they are so cheap that if they do wear out it wouldn't be a big deal to replace them.

If you have small or few bits they can get sometimes get into the corners but it's not hard to dig them out and if you make sure to tuck the corners behind the seal it's usually not a problem.

All you've got is plastic baggies? Dissapointing.

You can also put components in the zip-type bag normally and simply fold the bag along the zip from interior top to exterior base.

Does the same thing, only without your *hot taek* on proper piece placement....

Cool idea thumbsup I also do this with chips or snacks. Never thought to use it with games.

Sadly, this baggie trick won't work for my games. I use super small baggies just barely big enough to hold the components. They would have to be larger to use this trick.

Instead, I have a set of square plastic dishes with tapered sides. Easy to get bits out by hand, easy to pour bits back in bag after.

Well you probably don't want to do this with the nice bags that come with most games anyway,as they tend to be narrow in shape. The wider sizer of cheap sandwich size bags helps with stability and openness when inverted. So use cheap bags for bits that need to stay in separate groups during play and save the nice bags you get with games for components that are large or few.
