Looking to round out an order and thought of buying this. If you could only buy one box, which is your favorite and why?

I'm going to say Alliance. Generally speaking I like that lots of cards go into my hand. With more cards comes more options and thus more control.

I like the Wizard especially- she's the 'digger' of the bunch, pulling cards selectively from the discard pile with 2+ in play. Hard to go wrong with her when the discard pile is thick.

And the Psion is quite powerful in higher levels in my opinion as you gain but don't have to shed from your own ranks. A potential aid to your opponent though.

The Marshal always only benefits me.

The Assassin has multiple steps to her actions and allows for precision plucking. I always claim "I'm assassinating your ..." when I play her.

The Shaman is a card fiend. You get cards-o-plenty and you trim the fat with him.

The Spellblade is just ruthless. Steal guildhall cards, bank them, then selectively inject your garbage into your opponent's guildhall. Oh, yeah then you get another action in case you instead built up a chapter you need across the table and want to play your Psion to snag your efforts.

All 3 boxes are meant to be balanced as they include one profession/character in each of the 6 different archetypes. There are minor variations within the archetypes, so all sets will play well by default. Acquiring 2 or 3 sets gives you more flexibility if you feel you want to increase the effects of a particular archetype. Certainly you can push things to a very imbalanced point and the game could wind up lopsided in score or drag on longer than is enjoyable.

Figuring out the layering of profession combos becomes a bit of an art, although it is the strategic element in this game. It can be a bit daunting initially to learn the abilities of each profession but the more you play you see patterns and the opportunities that arise from having specific cards at the ready.

Everybody else must be too busy playing!

I've played each one once over the weekend, solo two-handed games. Each game was pretty close.
I think I like Alliance the best as well. There's a lot of fun, funky things each class does. The actions do seem slightly more complex than in the other two.
Second favorite, I think, is Coalition, then Fellowship.
That said, it's close - I'd gladly play any of them and am happy I got all three (and was able to store all three in one box). I haven't played with a custom setup or combined everything yet though.
