I played through most of the first scenario of campaign 1 and Venkman had a very high XP already, 15. As I understand this carries over from scenario to scenario so this being the first game I saw myself having this guy at level 5 at the end of the second scenario. Is this normal? Levelling up so quickly?
I had Venkman shooting ghosts at close range so he would be slimed and had Stantz follow so he could get rid of the slime.

It sounds like you leaned very heavily on Venkman, perhaps at the expense of the other Ghostbusters. What was the relative XP of the other three GB's?

Might be....think I forgot to move the level 2 ghosts when I hit them as well, which would've made a difference as well.

Yeah, remembering to activate the abilities of ghosts can be a bit of a chore in the first few plays of the game.

I'd also like to mention that it is a very good idea to "farm" XP for the Ghostbusters in the early scenario missions, because it ensures that they'll each reach level 5 by the final mission. It's much easier to keep trapping ghosts in the first or second missions of a scenario than it is to try to make up for it in the fourth, which may also have a built-in time limit...

I try to have all of my GB's at level 2 or 3 before moving on to the second mission, when possible.

I always find that ALL the ghostbusters, sans Winston, are easily leveled up as long as you are playing as a team.

That or maybe i'm not playing Winston right.

Level 1 is "for every 3 ghost classes you deposit at a time" you add 1 XP.
Usually most classes that everyone has, even if you pass it off to Winston to deposit, are class 1 and class 2, so you're always missing that third class, making Winston very hard to level up for.

Granted, this is with heavy/heavy teamwork. I usually tend to have Ray and Venkman travel together (Ray can heal, and get XP, while Venkman gets slimed, which in turn gives Ray XP and Venkman can take Ray's hits.

Oh, you misunderstood Winston's ability. You don't have to deposit a set of class 1, class 2, and class 3 ghosts. The total of 3 ghost classes refers to adding up the classes of ghosts that you have trapped.

For example, if you deposit 3 Class 1 ghosts, you get 1 XP. Or you can deposit a Class 1 and a Class 2 at the same time to get 1 XP. You can do this in multiples as well. If you managed to trap one of each of Classes 1, 2, and 3, you can turn in all 3 ghosts at once for 2 XP.

If you deposit two Class 2 ghosts, then you will only get 1 XP though, and the last "class point" will be lost, so I suggest always depositing class total values of 3 whenever possible (and sometimes it's not).
