I'm a feder-allergic and I blame the Klingon for not having smashed the Federation in time to save us from Star Trek serials.

Now that you've thrown down the gauntlet, I may have to accept.

I have invited some of my friends, let's see if we can make it happen.

Perhaps we could all try to play and post about Circus Maximus around the premiere of the film to try and increase the interest in the game?

I have already done this... Like 20 years ago.

Ok, not the "new" one.

The 1959 Ben Hur is actually a remake of the 1925 Ben Hur.

Battlestar Galactica also springs to mind as a quite good remake...

Lord of the Rings 1978 was quite good, but I think the 2001 version is even better...

Edit: one "s" too many...

This one has been panned by critics, though. I was considering seeing it and then decided against it because it just doesn't seem like it'll come close.

It is hard to imagine how the 1959 version could be improved. One wonders what convinced anyone to commit resources to a remake. I think I will see it out of curiosity. I will probably be disappointed...

If the 1925 was a mute film there was a good reason for a remake.

More than remakes I would call them revisits.

If I'm not wrong the 1978 was a cartoon, so you can't say we had a remake.

Anyway I would have not expected such a flooding of reply. At this point, it you are a "Top Gun" fan I must advice you to avoid the book "Red Eagles: America’s Secret MiGs", you would discover that against the MiG-21 used by a western it would have a dogfight mess.

From what I read, they actually featured Jesus more (in a way more true to the book).

Okay thanks. From the trailers I've seen, it wasn't clear that Jesus Christ was still in it.

Well, we played two games of CM on Tuesday and a few of the guys discussed the new Ben Hur movie - does that count?

It was good to get this back to the table again. We used the oversized paper track and the wooden blocks which was fun.

The first game saw one player damage his wheel twice and two opponents once each with attacks. The attacker made all his rolls to survive but the two opponents (of which I was one) flipped later in the game.

The second game saw one player way ahead and the second place chariot take the inner lane on the last turn at Speed 19. Amazingly, he rolled

1 1 1

so made it safely through. He was able to pass the first place driver and was two squares away from the finish at the start of the first turn. The second place driver got the first pull that turn and his only hope was to do something to the first place driver.

As he was running a light cart, he could not do enough damage to the horses to make a difference. He figured wheel damage was too much of a gamble so he went with whip the driver, stating he was hoping to get a wound and pull him from the cart.

I guess since he was feeling cocky, the first place guy had continued to hug the inner wall after going around the last corner. Second whipped first but did not get a wound - however, he did get a swerve!!!

Chariot One did an auto flip but as he was only two squares away, his driver survived being dragged across the finish.

That's only the second time I've see a dragged driver finish and the other was when a chariot flipped on an inner lane, high speed turn much like this game but failing the cornering roll.

Always fun!!!
