Werewolf: The Return

Rules: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/160365

It was a huge feast.

The man had assured them that they could return to their lands. They could follow him and see for themselves. He was very old - gaunt and meek looking with bushy black eyebrows and pale skin. He wore a simple brown robe. As a token of good measure he had prepared this meal for them, with a little help of course.

He had brought with him a group of wanderers who were looking for a home. Having nowhere else to go, they followed excitedly enthralled by his tale of hope. They had helped prepare this meal. All would set off in the morning.

Initially on many occasions, the older gentleman was rebuffed. First, they questioned his motives and didn't trust his accounts. Many times before while living in that great but cursed land, they had believed the monsters vanquished and that life could continue normally. Each time, however, they came back in a new and different form in a different village. Different clans of wolves appeared. Then witches came. Then members of the cult, the Dark Pact. Even Medusa cropped up. They had had enough. Sure, they were famed evil hunters, but they wanted retirement.

But the older gentleman's persistence finally paid off. His generosity and proof finally won their hearts. The man said he wanted to area to once again teem with life. He was, as he said, lonely. He said the source of the repeated evil had been killed. A group of conjurers had been dispatched. He had proof. Now please return.

When morning came, this group of expatriates were ready. As they slowly accepted the fact that they could return to their old life normally, the excitement grew until it blocked out all fear. They had prepared quickly because of it. Early in the morning they set of northbound - the expatriates, the old man, and his following group of vagabonds.

Nothing of significance happened the first few mornings. Then one morning a sight which terrified them appeared. They had seen it before. Dbmurph showed the wounds that they all feared. Werewolves. They were near them. Perhaps they WERE them. That night the old man was watched all night long. Nothing happened. The next morning however, jmilum was gashed. There were strange things afoot, and it was time to take care of the problem the old-fashioned way.

Re: Werewolf: The Return. Game Thread.
The Cassandra Automatic Vote Tally System

Your Moderator has enabled the Cassandra Automatic Vote Tally system
for this game. In order for it to function correctly, your votes will
need to be formatted correctly. The following rules will explain what
you will need to do:

Players
1. All votes must be bolded

2. The entire vote statement must be bolded and enclosed in bracekts: [vote jmilum]

3. Only one unvote and/or vote per post. You may have both an unvote
and a vote in the same post, but the unvote must come before the vote

4. You may [unvote all] instead of naming the current player
you are voting

5. If you [vote nightfall] your vote will be locked (voting
nightfall is allowed in the same post as a vote for a player, but it
must come after it, this does not violate Rule #3)

6. Vote tallies will be automatically posted to the game thread hourly
if the tally has changed. The Tally and Vote Logs (for each game day)
are also available on the Cassandra game page.

7. If your vote is not counted be sure to check the Vote Log page and
see if it was marked invalid and why.

8. Case does not matter and simple typos will not cause the vote to fail.

9. You may [vote no lynch] if your game allows it.

10. Quotes below the vote/unvote statement may cause the vote to be missed,
especially if they contain bolded sections.

11. Non voting players will be listed in the tallies. This will only be
correct if the Moderator notes which players have been killed (see below)

Moderators
1. The moderator will need to post [Dawn] when the day begins
(after the night results are posted) and [Dusk] when the lynch
deadline has passed and the day is over. Votes will not be counted
after [Dusk] has been posted. They will be registered again
after [Dawn] is next posted.

2. You may include a day number in the dawn and dusk post for
informational purposes, but it will not be used by the system.
Cassandra will increment an internal counter each time it sees
[Dawn] no matter what day is shown in a dawn post (i.e.
[Dawn 3] the three is allowed but ignored)

3. After dusk has been posted, the Moderator may go to the game page
on Cassandra to request a Final Tally to be posted before the normal
scan period has elapsed (i.e. Game Y gets scanned at 45 min. after the
hour, if it lynches at 7pm the moderator may request a tally to be
posted from the game page before 7:45pm. it will also be posted
regardless of whether or not it has been changed since the last
posting) - Do this by clicking on the 'Retrieve Final Lynch Time Vote' link.

4. You will need to note which players were killed via the lynch or at night by
either posting [killed jmilum] in the thread, or by going to the game
page and editing the player list. When posting in the thread, be sure to post
[dusk] before posting the lynch kill, and post [dawn] before
posting the night kill.
Example:
A. lynch time has passed so post [dusk]
B. goto the game page and select a final tally to be posted
C. check the final tally and post [killed melsana]
D. after the night deadline has passed post [dawn]
E. post the night kill with [killed kima]

Your Moderator has chosen to use the Longest Held Last Vote method for a tiebreaker - This is just for Cassandra system, and there may be a different tiebreaker specified by your Moderator in the ruleset.

Re: Werewolf: The Return. Game Thread.
Notes:

1. Day 1 lynch will be Monday, 8 PM. This is a long day 1.

2. Cassandra help will be in the post right after the rules on the rules page. PM me with any other questions.

3. The Seer and Sorceror were given random N0 negative views.

4. All chat rooms have been setup. Each player has a chat with the Mod, the wolves have a chat, and the masons have a chat.

5. Any other questions, ask me! This post will be used for further clarifications, so check back later if need be.

Re: Werewolf: The Return. Game Thread.
Wow, looks like Werewolf has become something entirely different since I last looked in. I had no idea of this Cassandra development.

Was there a place where we were told which roles are in our game? Did I miss that somewhere on the other page...or an email...or is it assumed its a secret?

Oh, and I'm not a werewolf.

I see that the first dusk is Monday. What's the interval after that? I remember there was something about maybe being longer than 24hr...to accomodate those of us that are not able to get on as regularly.

Re: Werewolf: The Return. Game Thread.
Well glad to see we're getting started. I know this has been an issue in previous games, but I'll state up front that since I work at night and sleep during the day I have sort of unusual waking hours. I'm usually sleeping from around 8 am to 1-2 pm, and then again at night (after the lynch goes in.) I'll try to be as active as I can in other times.

This should be a lot of fun!

Ah, once again the comfortable role of villager. This'll again allow me to stretch the boundaries of the caps lock key, testing your patience with angry rants and vulgar declarations. Harken upon the times of old, where evil shall string me along, not killing me, expecting the village to tire of my antics and lynch me, only to be thwarted by the browbeating and namecalling that will inevitably spare my life until they just say "fuck it, let's kill him".

There, I just played my game for me. See you in hell.

Hello!

Standard introductory post here. It's good to get to play again, despite how woefully underprepared I feel at the moment. I will admit to thinking about casting my random Day 1 vote for the last person who led a charge to get me killed, but that'd be wrong and metagamey. (Hi, janiera! )

I missed the emoticons, too. grapecamel Whee! Clearly, anyone who doesn't use them is a werewolf. I wonder if I can see who uses the "Disable Emoticons" option....

What can I say? I'm in a goofy mood this morning, and the grape camels are the best.

Dear old-timers,

Even though I am young, hale, and hearty, please do not get me killed. I know it will be a burden to live with me, a constant vibrant reminder of the gray despair that lurks around the next corner of your ever-shortening lives. But I'm not a wolf, so you need me to stay alive so that we can win.

Be well, old people! And take your medicine.

Cap

Oh yeah, [vote hounds].

No you didn't, if you mean the word "inconsequentiality".

Per www.dictionary.com:

in·con·se·quen·tial [in-kon-si-kwen-shuhl] adjective

1. of little or no importance; insignificant; trivial.
2. inconsequent; illogical.
3. irrelevant.

Related forms:

in·con·se·quen·ti·al·i·ty, noun

[vote Agnespoodle] for trying to muddy the waters already.
