Can you guys suggest some quick, cheap and small card games that travel well but also have a decent amount of game to them. Not really thinky but just feel like a little more than a regular card game. Thanks.

Just tossing out a couple; you dont specify player count or anything so I'm going with a generalized approach..

- Love letter
- Sushi go
- Cribbage (Might be more thinking for a newbie then what you are looking for)
- Hanabi
- Red7 (have not played but I hear it is fun)

+1 to Sushi Go (card drafting)
Valley of the Kings (deckbuilding, small box)
Archaeology: The Card Game
Jaipur (specifically 2-player, has some tokens as well as the cards but box is pretty compact)
Trambahn (since game is just cards and a scorepad, which isn't completely necessary, could fit in a smaller container than its own box)

Beasty Bar 2-4 players, very mean get-your-animals-to-bar-while-screwing-your-opponent game.
Love Letter 2-4 players, quick social deduction game.
Red7 2-4 players, a little bit mathy but fun.
6 nimmt! 2-10 players, try to get as little points as possible.
Nyet! 2-5 players, trick-taking game.
Straw 2-6 players, you try to not be the one who breaks the camel's back while putting your stuff on it.
Saboteur 3-12 players, 2 teams with hidden identities.
Guillotine 2-5 players, be the one who chops the heads of the best nobles!

Let us know what you end up getting!

These are the ones we usually bring when travelling:

- Koi-Koi if you can get hold of a Hanafuda deck.
- San Juan (second edition) repackaged.
- Greed also repackaged. This is a very overlooked game.
- Mottainai

Actually all of the above. They're all very nice games (although Mottenai, which is a very good game, may be a bit too heavy for what you are looking for).
To make your choice a little bit more difficult, I would like add a few others:
Tides of Time: 2-p, and only 18 cards
Basari quick and fun set collection game with some negotiation
Cherry Picking set collection

It's difficult for me to guess what you mean by "feel like a little more than a regular card game" since I'm not sure what regular card games you know. Here's some suggestions, some are similar to traditional playing card game but I think all are good:

+1 for Red7 2-4p
+1 for Cribbage 2-4p (best with 2, good with 4p partnership, never played with 3 but I doubt it's as good), playing cards - If you've not played it before I'd recommend you & your opponent look up some basic strategy on line.
Haggis 2-3p climbing game (2p can be played with playing cards)
Indian Chief 2-8p innovative modern playing card game
Ninety-Nine 3p track taking game where you place 3 of your cards face down to bid how many trick you will take
Sheepshead (also available as Boon) 5p trick taking game with changing and initially hidden teams. (There are variants for 3-4 players but I've not tried them).

This will probably be the heaviest recommended, but check out Star Realms. It's the kind of game you can play over and over and the entire game fits a small tuckbox.

SOS Titanic really solitaire but tells a story very well.
Arboretum lovely looking and Teresa Green loves it.
Do not discount it but Bowling Solitaire with a pack of cards is a good game.
+ 1 to cribbage, sometimes you have to go old for a good card game.
I have not played Magic the gathering but my boy likes to play Epic Card Game which is simple and more fun than it should be.

Here's my recommendation list:

Little Devils - Fun little trick taking game
Saboteur - great game, building a map towards gold
Bohnanza - set collecting plus shared market, auctioning and trading.
Die Weinhändler - simple set collection, wine themed..
Valley of the Kings - fun little deckbuilder
Targi - its played with cards, but its more of a worker placement / resource management game. So it feels like a bigger game, but also its likely to be a little more expensive then the others..
Cha-Ching - sort of like Uno, meets Mah Jong, with a take-that element.

Star Realms is a very light game, I would say. Perhaps heavier than 6 nimmt! but no more than San Juan.

Project Dreamscape It may be a bit too far from a traditional card game then what you are looking for but it's one of my favorite little card games so I have to mention it.

I'll also give a another vote for Red7, It's great little card game.

The obvious answer is Red7. Plenty of others have said it, but it meets all of your criteria. It costs about $12 on Amazon, it plays in 5-8 minutes for 2-4 people, and you can stick it in your pocket.

I would add The Game. It is another one that is $12, fits in your pocket and plays 2-4 people in 15 minutes.

Finally, Hanabi, a cooperative game that does all the same things.

I would agree with recommendations for Haggis, and add Tichu, but those are very much like regular card games.

If you wanted to move out of pocket size Jaipur is great for two people, and Coup plays a crowd.
