We set down this evening to a wild new game. Vast: The Crystal Caverns, after moving through the rules, we think we got them all down by turn 2. (Except the Shriek ability which I posted in another forum).
The Knight set out on her quest to vanquish the dragon, but was a little dreamy eyed by all the treasure and easily distracted by shiny things. The dragon moved diligently taking the opportunities it could, finding a spare treasure, eating a goblin or four, and secreting away its precious gemstones. The Goblins took a bit to pick up steam but their constant harassing of the Knight very nearly killed her early on.
The cave... ah the malevolent cave, it moved slowly plodding our demise turn after turn waiting to spring its omens and desperately trying to hide its treasure.
After 2.5 hours, the Dragon had Surfaced! The Knight was clinging onto life and charging after the Dragon! The Goblins and their Monsters were rampaging all over and suddenly just as any one of them could've defeated the other, the slow methodical cave collapsed trapping every one of them!
(About an hour of our 2.5 hour playtime was learning the rules. This game could easily be a 90 minute affair with an experienced group, you just have to learn four - five different games. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves each wanting to try one of the other factions, the cave felt that even though he won, he was playing a bit more solitaire than the others, but with only one play under our belts too early to pass judgement.)
