I'd like to see which games everyone would recommend that are sea themed... with one exception. I don't particularly want war-games. I enjoy them and have a particular taste for subs, however as I've recently acquired New Bedford it's rekindled my love of all things nautical.

What would you recommend?

Definitely Regatta. Makes you almost taste the salt and hear the screaming seagulls. There are other more modern titles like it, however.

Alternatively, lots of pirate games arr played on the sea, e.g. Merchants & Marauders.

Black Fleet

... a pick up and deliver with attacking of your opponents to try to slow down your opponents (though there's no combat "system" to speak of. You just slow them down if you get close enough to them).

Simple. Plays in about 45 minutes. The theme really comes through.

+1 Merchants & Marauders. arrrh Also, I've been looking into Islebound, but that one is more fantasy-ish.

Fleet yes!

I too have been looking at Islebound for its sailing, picking up and delivering.
