Does a player know the cards in their hand which are face down?

It seems obvious they would be unknown to the owner, but then again, where would the "bluffing" come from?

Samo:

As in many, many other card games, "face down" cards are visible to their owners, while "face up" cards are visible to everyone.

Cards that are meant to be known to no one can remain in the deck.

Thanks,

James

I lack the reference frame to be able to figure this out on my own. We have probably been playing different games.
(While reading the rules I thought "they probably think everybody knows what face down card means")

Thanks for the answer and thanks for the clarification.
