Can anyone share which resources - whether video, rules summary, or other material - best helped you learn how to play PoG?

I'm almost done with the rules, and my brain hurts. I need something to help me cut to the chase.

Hi Lewis,
Here's my thinking on learning to play POG without hurting your brain:
* The rules are very tight after numerous editions and printings but I believe they are overburdened by coverage of situations that are very rare. I think it's very difficult to learn just 'reading the rules'.
* Go through the sample of play in the back of the rules book.
* Review ongoing games on ACTS. You'll get a good feel for the openings, etiquette, and the various stratagems and tactics folks employ.
* Play experienced folks, PBEM if you have too, and remember the tricks they pull on you. (FTF is nice too, but finding someone who'll put up with a 6+ hour match is tough.)
Good luck!
Tom

The guide by Eric Brosius in the files section is a perfect starting point. 290 thumbs says it all.

I'll second that. It's how I learned to play this great game.

That is a great learning guide - I probably should see what else is on BGG as until recently I've been relatively confined to CSW!

I wrote this: Detailed PoG AAR, PBeM 1/4. It's a game which lasted four turns. I wrote up every action, so you can replay it and see how a game progresses.

Hope this helps!
