According to a new article on ICv2, the game will come in two versions.
The regular one will retail for 80$, and a premium edition with painted miniatures will retail for 130$.
Release is planned for March 2017.

There's a new sales sheet for the game (link).

Some noteworthy points:
The miniatures were "rescaled" (i.e. made smaller).
Each faction of giants will have its own agenda.
The text says 3-6 players, while the box covers show 2-5.
Miniatures include 12 giants (presumably 2 of each faction), and 3 giantslayers.

The official number is 3-6 players. The published box cover is slightly different than the sample used in the solicitation.

I infer that 'rescaled' means 'incompatible with other lines of minis', rather than 'we shrunk it at the last minute' since the giants range from 2 cm to over 9 cm. We don't know how tall the three giant slayers are. With 6 players that's only two giants per player (although there's no reason why some players might not have more giants).

Solicitation wrote:
Assault of the Giants is a new Dungeons & Dragons
board game designed by Andrew Parks. Designed for 3-6
players, Assault of the Giants challenges players to command
one of the six types of giants and claim the right to
rule over all giantkind. Command giants and assault settlements
to score points and secure important resources,
including food, treasure, ore, and runes. Contents include
12 Giants miniatures, injection molded in color, measuring
from approximately 20mm to over 90mm in height,
and three Giantslayers!

Each player issues commands to his or her giants in the
form of command cards (recruit, move, attack, pillage,
and so on). This allows players to recruit new giants, send
them out to attack settlements and other giants, and also
to pursue special agendas based upon their race. For example,
the Storm Giants seek to restore their lost monarch,
King Hekaton. The Cloud Giants seek an ancient
dragon treasure trove, and the Hill Giants seek an abundance
of food with which to feed their massive monarch,
Chief Guh.

In Assault of the Giants players send their giants out to
wage war on each other and the small folk, but the game’s
real strategy lies in each player ‘s ability to pursue their giant
race’s unique agenda, not only through combat but
also through clever cardplay.

The giant miniatures represent the champions on each side, including the King of the Storm Giants. Other characters and units are represented by double-sided Unit Tokens (with different stats on the reverse side when wounded).

I believe the 3 giantslayers will be the ones who are 20mm tall.

This game was a real treat to work on, and I look forward very much to its release!

So you're basically saying we should start hording D&D minis to replace these tokens with? devil

BTW, it looks like Wizkids are finally preparing a page for the game, but it's still under wraps: http://wizkids.com/assault-of-the-giants-board-game/

It isn't collectible, so that doesn't matter.

They have a number of highly-rated non-collectible Star Trek games, D&D games, Mage Knight Board Game and Quarriors!. They may make an expansion or two, but if they stop making them it just saves you money instead of cutting off your lifestyle and making you question your investment.

I'm not sure that Blank White Dice has a lot of potential for collectibility.

Read the rules after watching some of the Dice Tower video and immediately put in a pre-order for the Premium Edition with my FLGS. This game looks terrific!
