Hi,

My wife and I love Favor of the Pharaoh and Roll For It!, and are wondering what other good dice games are out there - aside from Yahtzee please

We often play just the two of us, but it would be great to find ones that also work well with larger groups. Hopefully one that is a bit different each time you play and involves strategy over pure luck or speed.

Thanks!

Heckmeck/pickomino is by far my favorite Yahtzee-like dice game. In fact I think it just completely fired Roll for It for me. Very clean rules, plays great with any group starting at 2. A bit of nasty player interaction. You guys will love it!

I would suggest Dungeon Roll or Qwixx.

Zombie Dice is another cool one, available for cheap pretty much anywhere. I haven't played it with 2 but I'm sure it would be fine. Wil Wheaton featured it on the show TableTop so just check it out on YouTube if you want to see how it plays.

I can think of a few not already mentioned ...

Valeria: Card Kingdoms Cards activated by die rolls with monsters to attack, citizens to buy, and locations (domains) to purchase. There are enough of each to vary each game.

Castle Dice Roll dice and choose them in a common pool to acquire the resources you need to build structures for your castle. There are lots of different dice and lots of castle structures

City Dice roll dice to activate parts of your city to acquire better parts to add to your city.

Dice Town is a western themed dice-chucking game that plays well with 2 and on up to 5, (6 with expansion). It is not deep, though it is engaging...probably a light-medium game. The expansion is fine, but not necessary at all to enjoy the game fully.

If you don't mind a cooperative game: Pandemic: The Cure
plays with 1 - 7 players.

My suggestions are
Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age
and
Thief's Market but I'm not sure if this counts as a dice or a card game, it is a mix of both.

Can't argue with April's Roll for the Galaxy suggestion. If you want something lighter, try Ra: The Dice Game. Very easy to learn and teach, plus it travels well.

Well, my family loves Roll For It, but we also enjoy Elder Sign. It's a bit on the 'hard' side but it plays well for 2+ people.

I'd also suggest Dark Minions but it's 3-5 players only. But it's some good dice chucking action.

Well, if you actually love Roll for It!, I can't really relate to recommend another game.

But Qwixx is great, works well with 2-5 (or even more), and has just enough strategy for a very light dice filler.

A little hard to get, but we also really enjoy Würfel Bohnanza.

Both of these use Yahtzee mechanics but also allow non-active players to benefit from what the active player rolls, so you're always involved rather than just watching and waiting while a player rerolls their dice.

Thanks! I forgot to mention we own Zombie Dice. Definitely quick and fun! Ok for kids too if you avoid the violent talk.

Ninja Dice plays 2-5 people in 3 rounds. All players are involved during each turn. Where/how the dice land matters.

The new game,The Order of the Gilded Compass, is a very fun dice placement game with a good element of luck and some strategy. It's a remake of an older game, Alea Iacta Est.
