Who did the classic artwork for the original British edition? I've contacted Hasbro, but as expected they haven't a clue (ha ha) after simply absorbing the Waddingtons back catalogue.

According to teh internets is was Elva Pratt, the wife (and probably co-designer) of the Anthony Pratt. Also mentioned here

Not sure this answers the questions. The link (one I had found) states she did the "board art" but no mention anywhere of who designed the characters. Also the indication is that she did the art on the prototype game, not the final edition eventually published by Waddingtons.

I suspect the mystery is still out there. It would be great if it were her though.
