Short version: Have each player play 2 colors. The winner of the game is the player who has the higher points total for their lower point color. In other words, the player whose color comes in last place loses.

Long version: It is fairly well accepted among those that play this game a lot that in a 2P game there is only 1 winning strategy: Resource. There are plenty of suggestions for weakening this strategy but it is incredibly difficult to determine what would actually make for a balanced game. I submit that nobody has played any of these variations enough to determine the correct balance. The 4P game sees the most variation in strategy because as more playrs play the "dominant" strategy it loses its dominance. Now add that you will be trying to (with your "stronger" color) try to hurt your opponent's "weaker" color while simultaneously trying to help your "weaker" color. A similar calculus for your "weaker" color play. And your weak and strong colors could swap many times based on circumstances. Probably not best for AP prone players.

Comments welcome.

I love Tzlok'in but it's enough of a challenge to play with 1 colour!!!

Does the expansion fix the game at 2p?
