A friend of mine holds semi-regular tournaments at his house. Private, but with very large turnouts. Dozens of players at minimum.

Every time he does this, at least one of the side games is something a bit specific or odd. For September's tourney, the special game is "Big Bounty Battle." For October's, it will be "Tasteful Assortment of TIEs."

I'm looking for input on where to start on these builds. Descriptions of each below:

BIG BOUNTY BATTLE:

1. Epic. All Official Epic Tournament Rules apply, with the following exceptions or additions.

2. All players must form an Epic SCUM list. SCUM only.

3. Each list must contain unique cards with the following names:
-Boba Fett (crew or pilot...if pilot, must carry Slave I title)
-Dengar (crew or pilot...if pilot, must carry Punishing One title)
-Bossk (crew or pilot...if pilot, must carry Hound's Tooth title)
-Zuckuss (crew or pilot...if pilot, must carry Mist Hunter title)
-4-LOM (crew or pilot...if pilot, must carry Mist Hunter title)
-"IG-88" (any unique crew or pilot card that begins with "IG-88"...any pilot card of this sort must be assigned the IG-2000 title)

4. While additional Scum ships may be included as points allow, the first model of each applicable ship listed above must bear the appropriate title of its iconic pilot, whether they are flying the ship or not. For example, if the player chooses to include a Firespray, the first Firespray MUST have the Slave I title, even if Boba Fett is actually serving elsewhere in the list as crew.

5. Proxies may be used for upgrade cards if needed.

TASTEFUL ASSORTMENT OF TIES:

1. Standard. All Official Standard Tournament Rules apply, with the following exceptions or additions.

2. All players must form a Standard IMPERIAL list. IMPERIAL only.

3. Each list must contain only contain ship types with the word "TIE" in their names, and may not contain more than one of the same type of ship. For example, if you include a TIE Fighter, you may not include any other TIE Fighter regardless of pilot.

4. Each list must contain at least three ships.

You could do something like this for the Scum list:

Bossk
Veteran Instincts
4-LOM
Zuckuss
Dengar
Mangler Cannon
Hound's Tooth
Engine Upgrade if you want extra maneuverability

Alternate: Instead of EU, go for Guidance Chips and Homing Missile. Very high chance of 4 hits, and a guaranteed critical to turn into an additional hit unless your target gets 4 evades somehow.

Boba Fett
Lone Wolf
Slave I
Cluster Missiles
Extra Munitions
Your choice of crew
Engine Upgrade if you want extra maneuverability

Any Brobot pairing you like

That takes care of the required cards. Fill out the rest of the list with whatever you want. Torpedo Scouts would work well.

For the TIE list, any mixed Aces list would do. For example:

Countess Ryad — TIE Defender 34
Juke 2
Engine Upgrade 4
TIE/x7 -2
Ship Total: 38

"Zeta Leader" — TIE/fo Fighter 20
Wired 1
Ship Total: 21

"Whisper" — TIE Phantom[/b] 32
Veteran Instincts 1
Fire-Control System 2
Agent Kallus 2
Advanced Cloaking Device 4
Ship Total: 41

I like that first group....couldn't do Torpedo Scouts though, as the first Jumpmaster included would have to be given the "Punishing One" title as per the rules. Unless I misunderstand how Torpedo Scouts work.

Regarding the second list....I was for sure going to put Whisper in there, as I am a huge fan of TIE Phantoms right now...hadn't considered a TIE Defender. I like where that's heading though. Good call.

How many points and how many epic points for* the Scum?

For the Scum one I'd probably look at a Party Bus Bossk (4LOM, Zuckuss, Dengar), Manaroo with the P1 title, IGD crew if it's an option (or Boba crew if not), and IGB with the title, plus boba in the 'spray if necessary, and as many other IGGies as you can fit.

For Empire I'd look at Soontir or Carnor, Omega Leader and Vader or Vessery, Omega Leader, Vader. It's basically going to have to be trip aces with that format, or maybe ace/ace/bomber buddy.

E:* scum don't have Epic ships

There's nothing about a torp scout that precludes the title; it's just 12 extra points on top of everything else. Actually would make a torp scout slightly more effective, since it'd get a crit off Guidance Chips instead of a hit. Could also do Manaroo with Punishing one with a torp scout partner, or even Dengar and someone else on the party bus. A sample Manaroo/scout pairing:

Contracted Scout (25)
Wired (1)
Extra Munitions (2)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
Overclocked R4 (1)
Guidance Chips (0)

Manaroo (27)
Push the Limit (3)
Recon Specialist (3)
Unhinged Astromech (1)
Punishing One (12)

Total: 79

In general I've found that in Epic games that I want a list of high- and low-initiative ships — high initiative for taking out priority targets and low initiative for blocking and mass fire.

I've only flown Ryad a couple times but in those two games she was nearly bulletproof — almost every maneuver is green and most of them give her an evade, and then she can take a focus as well. I had a Stealth Device on her then but it kept going on the first salvo and then she kept dodging attacks without it.
