It looks like there will be one main annual tournament (FSX). But will there be other tournaments and/or other organized events? If so, will Sirlin Games support them, or will there only be unofficial events?

Good question!

I'm curious if this is something that can be supported by Sirlin. Not to say he wouldn't want to, but he would need support. Maybe this is something his ambassadors can assist with.

See this text? It's a gratuitous waste of GeekGold.

The game itself isn't important. Spending time intellectually jousting with likeminded folks is the real reason to game.

I think many of Sirlin's games would be great as Gencon tournaments.

I'm working on putting together a qualifier series for FSX2017! I haven't quite nailed down what cities they will be held in, who will be running them, and what the exact tournament structure is, but it's something we're working on internally right now.

That's great to hear. Here's hoping game stores latch on to Codex for private tournaments and even casual game nights. Might be a challenge for some, considering the non-collectable model, but if there's enough demand many will want to jump on the bandwagon.
