For the sake of bidding i think that resources must be kept secret. It's hard to keep track of other player's resources and this can benefit you from being outbid from players with most resources than you.
It will also gives the game more strategy and interesting bidding.

What's your opinion?

It has been suggested also by Marco Arnaudo in his video review of the game. I think that is a good (and probably necessary) variant.

How about a blind bid where you put an amount in your fist then simultaneously reveal. Highest gets first choice then so on. I dont own the game and was wondering if that would work?

Τhere's a board where if the first player bid 1 then the next player must bid something higher. It is forbidden for more than one players to bid the same amount. So i don't think that it would work.

This variant is especially good for players with better memories. No thanks.

I think open resources makes the auctions more aggressive, which is good.

With a 3 & 4 player count it works but with 2 not really.
