I'm definitely considering it! I don't know what my free time looks like over the next few months, and I don't want to overcommit, but I'm definitely feeling out the pace of PbF play right now. 1 game per week seems doable, based on the fact that most games I've seen seem to span 6-7 turns, so 1 turn per day would not be impossible.

There's a theory: if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There's another theory: this has already happened.

Would you consider the Tournament fit for a noob (7 games). If so, I would consider joining.

Though, there will probably be a full week during which I am unable to play. Still possible?

Thanks!

The skill level band is very wide, so anyone who has played a few games should feel right at home.

If you haven't done a PBF yet, I recommend playing a casual PBF match, just to get used to reading and making posts, and tracking your board state.

Depending on which week you're unavailable, it would at worst result in you taking a one round loss, and at best would have no impact. Most likely you would have to play 2 games at once to make up for it (which can be done: I'm currently running an event where everyone has 8 simultaneous games going, but most people focus on 2 or 3 at a time).

My numbers back up your intuition (numbers pulled from the first two PBF tournaments)

Ending Turn
2 0 0%
3 1 1%
4 5 5%
5 11 11%
6 20 20%
7 27 27%
8 16 16%
9 10 10%
10 7 7%
11 2 2%
12 0 0%
13 1 1%
14 0 0%
Average 7.69

Mean days elapsed per turn: 1.0. Median: .9 Mode: .5 Max: 3.7

One turn per day, on average, is the expected rate.

Just to clarify: Is "turn" a single player or a single back-and-forth of both players?

If it's the former: Can a game really and with a base at 0HP when the starting player takes his second turn? Or is this "second player concedes"?

I count one turn as a back-and-forth. The turn listed is either when a base was reduced to 0, or someone conceded. Typically concessions happen just before a player would have died anyway, or 1-2 turns before that.
