The game is started in board18. You should have gotten an email notification. If not, it's called "BGG 1817 Sep 2016"

The players guide in the wiki is very good. But here's a few good keyboard shortcuts:

m - toggles between map and Stock market board
h - hides/unhides map tiles
s - takes a snapshot of the game (I suggest doing this after each operating turn)

For those following along, you can view the spreadsheet here.

Are you playing with 5 or 10 shorts, and are you playing with above-face bids on privates?

Before we get too far, I did forget to ask about the optional rules. Did we want to use any of them?

The optional rules are:

1. Allow up to 10 shorts of 10 share companies.
2. Short squeeze (If over 100% of a stock is player owned at the end of the stock round, move 2 spaces to the right instead of 1.)
3. Modern trains (7 and 8 trains earn extra cash.)
4. Above face bids (Private companies can be bought for more than face value.)

Any others tha I missed? I would be willing to use any of these but I am ok without them as well. Keep in mind that it needs to be unanimous to use an optional rule.

Do we want to add a 5th player? If not, then I will probably start another game to allow Hans a chance to play as well.

Regards

Hans

Well I assumed we were playing with 10 shorts, and I don't see a need for any of the others.

As an observer: exactly one private is probably worth more than face, which is why I mentioned that optional rule in particular.

Let's play with 10 shares and leave everything else as is, unless Tim objects. I will start another game for Hans.

Bid $20 on Pittsburgh Steel.

Paul next.

By the way, Paul, is this your first game of 1817, or have you played before? I was wondering if we needed to go over any rules, or if you are good to go.

I am currently in a PBEM game, we just bought the first 6 train so I think I have seen most of the rules. Not expecting to do very well, though.
