**EDIT [30 minutes after original post]: It seems that the only two modification bar colors are orange (melee) and blue (ranged); the purple modification bar color I'm referencing is a color fidelity issue found on some online images of ranged weapon/mod cards. My bad!**

This question is primarily about ranged weapon modifications as melee weapons/mods only correspond to one color - orange - but ranged corresponds to two - blue and purple.

When attaching a mod to a weapon, does the color of the modification bar on the mod need to match that of the weapon?

I presently believe that the bar color doesn't make a difference as long as the icon (melee/ranged) matches between the weapon and mod (and that the other rules/restrictions are followed such as number of bars and modification type [barrel, sight, etc]). This is because modification bar color is not mentioned as a restriction for usage anywhere that I was able to locate.

Thank you for your consideration! ^__^

Color matters. However there is only Orange (melee) and Blue (ranged). If you have Purple, sounds like a printing error (ink/toner running out) and should be treated as Blue.

Putting a Sight on your gaffi stick doesn't make any sense!

I don't believe anything should be purple. It's possible that's just discolouration of your cards?

Could you give an example card that you believe is purple rather than blue?

Well, I do feel a bit silly, I admit. :-/

I came to the blue/purple color conclusion while using the Imperial-Assault.Wikia.com to gather images of the items to share with my play group (we just finished Aftermath and are preparing for the next mission). It is much to my chagrin that I neglected to consider that the color fidelity was perhaps off on the website. (An example would be the DH-17 - http://imperial-assault.wikia.com/wiki/DH-17 - and the A280 -http://imperial-assault.wikia.com/wiki/A280 )

As embarrassing as it may be for me, this non-issue was quickly resolved thanks to you both. I appreciate it.

Until next time! ^__^

You might want to use http://cards.boardwars.eu/
While I can't scan with 100% color accuracy, at least the color error is consistent and issues like the one you had could be avoided.

Thanks for the tip! That's a very helpful resource for any game-aid or whatever that would need a card as a reference. I appreciate it. ^__^
