Hey, he's got a point. Do you really want a taco truck on every corner? What about days where I want general gau's chicken instead? It would be a nightmare!

When green is all there is to be, it could make you wonder why. But why wonder? I'm green, and it'll do fine: it's beautiful, and I think it's what I want to be.

My nearest taco shop is 1.5 blocks away. Put one in every corner and I am half a block closer to my fix. That would be a welcome development.

I have two Mexican restaurants* within two blocks of my home. They are across the street from each other! One has the best margaritas in the city the other has cheap margaritas. I can choose between quantity and quality or mix and match the two and still walk home.

*There is a third Mexican breakfast and lunch only place called Con Huevos a half a block further but no liquor license.

Sorry, this is a taco thread. Not that crazy about tacos. Fajitas? Yes!

Two residential blocks (est. 800-1000 feet max) due west is a lot different than a 10,560' diameter circle.

As I've posted elsewhere, at any given point in time there are 30 non-chain restaurants on Frankfort Avenue within walking distance of my digs. A couple blocks north of Frankfort Ave is Brownsboro Road. That's where the chain eateries are.

If Trump wins, the trucks will also have burritos.

I have now learned that a good number of you can reach multiple taco joints by traveling less of a distance than I would have to walk from my home to reach a paved road.

Not at all. Fajitas are filled with delicious grilled meats and delicious grilled veggies. Tacos use browned meat and cold veggies.

Fajitas are easy to eat and aren't the least bit sloppy. Hard tacos are impossible to eat without them crumbling to smithereens and are sloppy as all hell. Soft tacos are more user-friendly, but are really just burrito and fajita wannabees.

Fajitas FTW!!!

You need to heat your shells in an oven. I turn on my oven to 300, turn it off when it gets there, and then put the shells on the rack and leave them in the (hot, but off) oven for at least 5 minutes. 10 is better.

Then when you bite, your teeth go right through. Unheated shells are "chewy" and with those your teeth pull the taco in until it snaps, randomly, somewhere.

Hmm, this bears investigating. But since it may be a while before I visit the Lone Star State, can you give me a hint of what you Texans put in your tacos?

We don't make tacos at home--too much trouble. Besides, both my wife and I prefer taco salads. Even after crumbling chips into it, they're still probably healthier and a whole lot easier to make and eat. Plus, very yummy.

So the only place I've eaten tacos is at restaurants and they always feature the random snap, spilling contents of said taco on my lap. Sounds like you should work for a Mexican restaurant, Mabby, where your innovative shell heating techniques could revolutionize the industry!

In the meantime, I'll be enjoying the hell out of my fajitas.

I'm about a mile and a half (excuse me for not walking where there are no sidewalks) of all manner of eateries.

But the liquor store is closest, and a supermarket near that. The rest could be demolished and I wouldn't be terribly inconvenienced.

Tacos need to be hard. In Mexico there is only corn tortillas and they are hard for tacos.

Tacos = hard shell.

Hard shells is 100% incorrect. Not only need they be soft, there needs to be 2 of 'em per taco.
