or maybe even a better suggestion? my mother-in-law enjoys the game, but gets frustrated with the references to British TV, slang, authors, characters, etc...so i was hoping to find a book that maybe would allow her to lookup some of these things...

any ideas? thanks...

The Oxford Dictionary is a good source for language.

Q: How do I get to the island?
A: Take a boat
Q: Oh we don't use boats. How do I get to the island.

?

Google and Wikipedia were literally built to help with exactly the things you're asking about. You want help, they give help. Rejecting their help "because" will just continue the problem.

Or perhaps you could find a printed multivolume copy in a thriftshop?

Barring that, wikipedia would likely be suitable enough for use in a game. Perhaps use a tablet with a wikipedia app to get a uniform experience without g00gling.

In this instance the OP doesn't want to take a boat (online resource), and is looking for suggestions on something else like a helicopter (offline resource) instead. A boat isn't necessarily the only way, and some people don't like boats, and there's nothing wrong with that. If you don't have a suggestion, feel free to refrain from answering
