So, as the title says, is it doable?

The die is cast.

You say OCD like it's a bad thing.

It's certainly doable, but I wouldn't recommend it. One of the aspects of the fog of war in this game is that you cannot examine another player's stacks of troops. If you are playing both sides it will reduce the tension and eliminate bluffing.

Also there is blind bidding for receiving external support, another mechanism which doesn't work well solo.

If you look at the community recommendations for number of players, nobody that answered the poll would recommend playing this solo.

Well that's a shame really.
I find this game very interesting but alas I have no one to play with. cry

I enjoy it solo. And will go update the Game Page accordingly

I believe that it might be useful solo to get a feel for the mechanics and flow of the game. I would not enjoy it as a solo game.

It is perfectly possible to play solo. I randomise the hand order for the turn and have a blast doing so. Similarly with the bid mechanism.

Don't be put off.

That's comforting to hear, not to my wallet though...

Possible, yes. But you'll miss out on some great fog of war aspects, more so than soloing most other non solitaire specific games.

My suggestion would be to read through the rules and get a feel for the gameplay.

Playing any 2-player game solo is of course a compromise; but often less of a compromise than playing a 2-player game that both of you want to play!
