Which lightsaber? (Shu Yen's Lightsaber, Shrouded Lightsaber, or Ancient Lightsaber?)

The Learn to Play and Rules Reference Guide are available from:

(Btw, there is no app yet, and not for quite a while.)

Diala needs to win her story mission Temptation to get Shu Yen's Lightsaber. If done early, managing that will free up credits to use for weapons for other heroes. But the lightsaber is still not exceptionally good (but a fair weapon), so while losing the mission would be a bummer, it isn't the end of the world. (The mission surely isn't a guaranteed win for the rebels.)

probably my biggest shock in the base game was how hard/convoluted it was for the rebels to acquire a light saber.

So, which of those is your favorite? Or the best? Or whatever?

The answer to this question is: it depends! Shu Yen's lightsaber is a very powerful weapon, but not necessarily the most powerful melee weapon in the game. Diala is a flexible character that can be developed either as a support character or a melee fighter- with the lightsaber and the right class cards, she can become an extremely intimidating opponent (she can unlock multiple attacks each round, which, coupled with her lightsaber's cleave ability, can allow her to inflict a huge amount of damage to a large number of enemies in a single action.)

While I wouldn't compare Diala to the Jedi of the prequels- she won't easily outstrip all her non-force sensitive comrades- once she has her lightsaber, she can still compete with the best of them.

Correct, Diala's Lightsaber is more of a Tier 2.5 weapon.

It's a bit better than the BD-2 VibroAxe in some respects, but no comparison to proper Tier 3 weapons since it has a confusing Blue die.

The biggest thing is that it frees up credits as mentioned. It's worth about 600-800 in effective credits depending how much you value it.

The blue die is very handy against the new Black Ops deck, though. So, more adding on to the "it depends" train.

Shu Yen's LS excels in killing double black die opponents. It's also good for stormie packs as the cleave can be utilized, and the "passive" with foresight is a nice bonus that can make the side mission worth going on even mid-late game if there's no other good options.

The biggest issue with Shu Yen's LS is that a lot of the power comes from the surges and R-B is the second worst combination for surges in the game (behind R-R), so you need external surges to maximize its efficacy. This is even more a problem against white die opponents or guys with innate surge-cancel (evade?)or Imperial class cards that grant surge-cancel.

Balanced Hilt, MHD, Gideon, anything that focuses her are all good ways to maximize the power of Shu Yen's LS. If you have some combination of those things, then I'd say it's not really worth the credits to upgrade to Force Pike and your money would be better spent on guns for your other damage dealers or defensive items like High impact Guard (which may also increase your damage if you have defensive stance so you can proc the focus more easily)

Absolutely. Given an unlimited amount of turns, any of the heroes could probably easily defeat Vader in a 1v1 (because of how hero mechanics work vs imperials).

I'm a little confused by your question. This is a team game with objectives (rescue the prisoner and escape, infiltrate the base and steal the information, etc). Killing the enemy force is almost never the objective.
