Am I thinking Cleary that your opening moves should be rapid movement into neutral territoris ? Or is there something I am missing?

Well, all neutral territories have different things to offer. Crowns, supply, castles, strongholds... But yes, unless you see someone clearly making a mess you ought not attack someone on the first turn (Greyjoy could be the exception here).
