Today is ANZAC Day! A good day for popping a Foster's and watching Gallipoli!

I celebrate it traditionally by going to a Turkish restaurant and ordering Greek coffee

The first time I remember hearing the term "ANZAC" was when I was reading the rules to Pacific Victory. I was just looking at those rules a few hours ago. What a coincidence!

I'd prefer a New Zealand beer than bear meeple

You guys just don't export anything other than Steinlager though (not that it is not a good drop mind you). I wouldn't mind a Double Brown (I think that is what it is called)

The American add purporting : "Fosters. Australian for beer" forgot to mention that nobody IN Australia drinks it. The only Aussies who drink fosters are expats overseas.

You can rest assured that did happen Groggy. We were walking around the streets of Melbourne late last night and there were many current and ex-servicemen and women continuing on into the night.

Because Fosters is an extremely well known brand. We might not drink it, but everyone thinks we do.

Does every state have different terminology?

[Returns from Google consultation] I reckon the glass variation table at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_beer was written by a foreigner!

I haven't heard of a pony in Melbourne, and we sure don't have schooners, not at normal pubs anyway. You have to go north of the Murray to get schooners, well there is probably some cross over in towns near the border, you can still get pots in Gundagai, or at least they understand what you are talking about. A Glass is still available in Melbourne, not as common as a pot mind you.
