I found a copy of Scotland Yard (1983 ed.) and the board is somewhat warped. not quite unplayable but definitely annoying. anyone have a good trick to flatten the board, without wrecking it?

Just leave it overnight on a table with a big heavy game on top of it. Scythe, Agents of SMERSH and Defenders of the Last Stand are my go-to's.
