Longtime lurker first time poster, and just like countless people before me I am trying to find the right kind of games to keep my Wife interested in the hobby. She has a few games she really likes but some she hates and I am trying to find her perfect sweet spot. I probably have 50 games on my wishlist and not a lot of funds to the trial and error approach.
Games she loves:
Biblios (loves everything about it, her favorite)
Worlds Fair 1893
And surprisingly she likes Castles of Burgundy, but we don't play it often
Games She hates:
Smallworld (Not sure why she hated it)
New York 1901 (says her mind didn't work the way need to figure out the puzzle)
Smash Up (didn't like all the different powers on the cards, confusing)
Bang the dice game (not sure why)
Resistance (I guess not a fan of social deduction games)
Rules will need to be simple, and be able to be explained in less than 10 minutes to have any hope. Any ideas or recommendations?

Why does she love/hate the games you list? Explaining that will result in better recommendations.
Can't You See That You're Lost Without Me?
Sounds like you want to stick to light-medium Euros.
Here are a few I'd recommend that are good with 2:
7 Wonders Duel
Ponte Vedra Beach
If 1901 didn't work for her, I am wondering if patchwork would have the same problem. you are basically playing the same puzzle of trying to fit together shapes.
I can't say I know much about the games you listed as her liking. but doing my own research into purchases of a light to medium, dice chucking light game I came across a few including las vegas and castles of burgundy as potential candidates for me. Here's some I feel are similar that you could look into:
Dice City people keep saying good things about this it seems
Biblios Dice OK maybe you don't want both versions, maybe see what is different and see if it is worth your while
