The two new roles Social Adept and Drone Rigger still shows that they still need to be one of the four basic roles that you can take, though you have more flexibility. In the Shadowrun RPG game, from 1st ed to 5th ed, there are a lot of Archetypes/Roles that were available to the player, like the Burnt-out mage, part mage/part street samurai or the Detective, part Street Sam, part Face. Since the role only has 7 icons to start off your deck, you can custom make your own role based on these archetypes.

Example for the Burnt out mage will be 3 Blue, 3 Black and 1 Green.

Just something play around as a variant role. You can check the archetypes available in the books to see which ones you want to use.

I like this idea. I wish they would make something similar as an official variant

Sounds like a great idea - It would be great if someone with enough time (and experience of SR) could come up with some potential archetypes and their suggested builds like you have done (maybe as a table).

Sadly that person isn't me

A physical adept would be the obvious choice for a blue/black deck. Black/Red is hard to come up with a name for -- the RPG let you blend face and samurai skills together pretty smoothly, so there's no midway point where your character would turn into something else. Green/Blue is also tricky because the game tried fairly hard to stop you from making hacker mages, though it was definitely *possible*.

Green/Blue: Technomancer? I know the magic of a Technomancer isn't 'proper' magic but you could probably get away with it.
