I voted for cats because everything, including board games, is always improved by adding more cats.

I've never been particularly pleased that a game included one animal over another, nor displeased that a game left some animal out.

The closest I guess I come to appreciating animals in games is that I like it when games don't just slot in animals as beasts of burden or a food source. It's novel and interesting when they're included for some other purpose. Like in La Isla when you're researching endangered species or in Zooloretto when you're building a zoo.

I'd like to combine Bryan and David's posts and suggest treating cats as beasts of burden and/or a food source.

Yep. No mythical beasts at all. It's just how I roll (he says while carefully hiding his copies of BattleLore (Second Edition) and Dungeon Lords behind his back).

47 votes and none for geese. Clearly a lack of demand in need of no game.

Cats, on the other hand, are off the charts yet there aren't that many cat games (or any that I can think of). So maybe we need some? I'm thinking a nice dry Euro about herding cats. You have to struggle to create your efficient cat herding engine while the cats keep slipping back behind you. Maybe a little "take that" when you toss catnip over into the other players' boards.

I don't much care for geese in games in general, but I'm not getting rid of Roads and Boats because of this poll.
