I've been reading up about SeaFall and determining if it's a game for the people I game with. While exploring this, I realized people often ask "What game should get a legacy edition next?" I thought of a slightly different question: what would make a great/terrible legacy mechanic? (ie, surprise rule or instruction that gets thrown at you mid-game or between games)

I instantly thought of:
'Open box number 5. Dump this entire container of glitter on the game board.'

Fill out the card in Envelope 7 with your name and address and pack it up along with the entire game in the included prepaid Tyvek mailer. Your new game for Phase II should arrive in 4-6 weeks.

I don't care how good the rest of the game is, that game gets rated a 0.

If they think this is a good idea then I'm betting I think the rest of the game is terrible too. It is funny though.

"Place some slugs and/or snails on the board for 2 hours or until they have eaten eat off 5% of the top layer and exposed some of the second layer of board."

(Slugs eat parts of the labels off beer bottles in our bottle recycling box so it could work)

Temporary? That's for lightweights.

"Open packet #10. Use enclosed needle and ink to apply permanent jailhouse tattoo of "TRAITOR" on the traitor's forehead."

Lol, y'know I was gonna go there, as it was my first thought, but I wanted Shadows Over Camelot Legacy to be more family friendly.

Can you re-title this thread "The worst"?

I really liked the naming of cities and the ownership of them in Risk Legacy. Id love to see a war game with a main map and a mini maps where battles take place. When you win a battle that wins you the game you get some ownership over the city that exists in future games but the city is devastated.

Open box 23 - replace all items back in their correct boxes, unpeel all stickers, erase any writing and restart the campaign.

A The Thing style blood test, where you mix each players blood with a vial of "acid" in the game to see who the traitor is.

Envelope 9, a bunch of small stickers that say "must." Each time you play a game, the winner places a "must" sticker over the word "may" in the rulebook, forcing previously optional actions to become mandatory each turn going forward.

I'm thinking of how witches are supposed to float, so a good dunking is in order to determine the traitor whistle

We liked to joke that the "loser box" in Pandemic Legacy (lose 4 games in a row) was going to be a lighter.

Open envelope #3, then apply the stickers to another game you own.

This could even work for Pandemic Legacy season two—the diseases are so virulent, they spread to other games!

I've done this in a one off role playing game session once (found the idea on the internet). Each time the players won a fight, I rewarded them with a mini mars.
As they entered the end fight against the big boss, I put an XL-sized mars bar on the table. The players immediately went "Whoa!"
