I have well over a 100 games listed that I own but I don't get to play all of them.

I feel like at this point I may actually be a "collector" rather than a "player" of board games.

25% for me.

Over what period of time?
1 day: 0-1%
1 week: 0-2%
1 month: 1-3%
1 year: 10-20%
Longer than that and it starts to get fuzzy given the games that go in/out.
Lifetime: 90-95%

Why does it matter?

Isn't a more relevant question what % of your gaming time do you spend playing games that are enjoyable and/or rewarding, such that you're glad you spent your time doing that?

I have 135 games marked as owned and 10 that are unplayed. So I have played 93% of my games. But this is going back to when I started logging plays in 2004.

In the past year, I have only played 35 games from my collection, which is about 26%.

GOOD IDEA! TIME FRAME

3 months. Why 3 months? Idk, sounds like a reasonable amount of time to call 'recently".

It totally matters, why? because I wrote the thread and posed the topic. IDK, why not?

The folks who LOVE to distort any and all topics they deem needing distorted is mind boggling.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've forced myself to sell/trade games I don't play any more (lack of players for campaigns being the main reason for discards) so in terms of lifetime plays I've played everything I have bar three, which would be Galactic Strike Force, Dungeons & Dragons: Castle Ravenloft Board Game, and the soon-to-be-sold Twilight Imperium (second edition)...

Within the last three months I've only played Eldritch Horror, house-rules co-op Zombies!!!, and Pass the Pigs, but I've been ludicrously busy. So, 20% recently? Like I said, I don't collect games that gather dust when someone else can enjoy them.

I have played 16% of my games over the past 3 months.

I guess in thinking about this, even though I have been trying to get rid of games that aren't hitting the table, I have a ways to go.

I probably play 20 different games in a month, but there's probably some overlap so over a three month period that's likely around 50. I just broke 500 and earned my gold badge, so 10%.

At any given time, I am playing at most about 0.07% of my collection.

Pete (is assuming he has entered most of them into BGG, which is not a safe assumption to make)

According to my BGG log, I own 572 games and I've played 636 games. So I figure this means I've played 111%.

I want to believe this is true so don't explain to me how statistics are supposed to work.

86% in the last 2 and 1/2 years.

I own 44 games and I've logged my play for about 2.5 years. In my collection there are 6 unplayed games. I've actually played them all but apparently those 6 haven't been played in a long time.

I really go in cycles though. Right now I'm on a Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) – Road to Legend kick right now, but 2 years ago I was crazy for Android: Netrunner.

I can't collect much even if I wanted too. I live in a small urban apartment. whistle

Maybe 50-60% in any given year. If I notice a game that I haven't played in two or three years, it gets culled from my shelves if I don't have any strong nostalgic feelings towards it.

I currently own 53 games including standalone expansions.
In the last year I've played 46 of them.
In the last 3 months I've played 32 of them.

I'd say those numbers are pretty awesome, and the only way they could be significantly higher is if my gaming partners didn't have game collections of their own.

In a given year I try to get through about 90%. As I've had a lot of my core group move away this year, I think my number is probably much lower, around 40% maybe.

We used to have a standing rule for DVDs--if a movie didn't get watched in the year, we gave it away. I wouldn't mind extending that to games if I still had a stable core group.

Some games are perfect for A specific group of people or a specific time having the right game for the right situation is what is important. If that situation of Uncle Larry your best friend Bert and your wife having 35 minutes to play only happens once every 6 years you'll be glad you had the game that fit that combination at that time
