Sour Cream: One of those "foods" that everyone has a strong opinion on?
Yes, please!
Only with certain foods but yes, indeed.
More often than not
Meh.
More not than often
Only if it is used as an ingredient cooked in something.
Gah-- disgusting. The first word is the first clue! It's cream gone bad.

I've cooked with it, but I won't eat it, straight up, on or with something.
I even prefer to sub unflavored yogurt for it, in baking, actually.

My brother-in-law will slather it on practically anything if you give him a chance to.
A buddy of mine puts so much on his nacho chips that I doubt that you could taste anything but.

More of a guideline than a hard "Expiration" date, if you ask me.
It would need be be chunky, or have mold growing on it before I'd know any better.

When green is all there is to be, it could make you wonder why. But why wonder? I'm green, and it'll do fine: it's beautiful, and I think it's what I want to be.

Both my father and I, don't leave us in a room alone with a tub of sour cream and a spoon. The only reason I don't polish of the whole tub is because it's 14% fat. 5% sour cream, 1% sour cream, yeah right. They should call those sour milk-like product.

Sour cream as a topping is disgusting, right up there with mayonnaise in the category of "foods that are too much like snot for my liking".

As an ingredient, tolerable. I'm thinking specifically of some cookies my wife once made that used sour cream that were very good.

If it weren't for sour cream, my baked potato would be naked. You can't expect butter, bacon bits, chives and salsa to sit on it by themselves, all alone.

I have a tub of sour cream at work because I used it on nachos. But I've stopped eating nachos, so I bought some bbq chips and dipped those, and I have nacho cheese chips to dip as well just in case.

I stopped eating nachos because 'chips are unhealthy' so now I eat salads, and apparently, just plain chips instead of fun ones. Though I'm probably not going to buy more chips.

I even put a little bit of it in my homemade brownie batter. Gives the brownies a little extra lift in the oven and adds a nice flavor to the chocolate.

For the most part, I hate sour cream. Vile, disgusting, yada, yada.

BUT...

Mix it with Lipton's Onion Soup and you have the World's Greatest Dip. And when you stir it into black bean soup, you turn a good soup into a great one.

So I guess it's like one of those specialized forms of kryptonite. Deadly most of the time, but essential when used properly.

That makes me wonder!
