I have been brought on board as a collaborator with a fledgling internet retro site called ThatsNotCurrent.com, based in Scotland with contributors from all over the world.
While I have been an active online blogger for many years, this is my first time covering board games.
Every Tuesday there will be a new article, usually focussing on a specific game. Less of a a typical review and more of a feature on the experience and ties to pop-culture of each game, this is something I'm very excited to see where it leads.
It is targeted more at non-gamers given it's platform, but there is enough in there to appeal to the more seasoned.
The site only launched in August but has surpassed all expectations by reaching scoring over 50k unique hits in its first month.
It's very much a labour of love with no one being paid for content, with any costs earned being used to maintain the site.
Please have a look if you have a chance, would very much appreciate any feedback.
It also has some truly excellent retro rich articles covering some iconic films, tv, comics and computer games from over the years if thats your kind of thing!
So far there has been four Tabletop Tales:
The Redemption of a Board Gamer
My origin story of how my childhood passion for board games was lost and found.
Seafall and the Legacy System
A preview of Seafall and a more in depth look at the legacy system and its potential. Had an email exchange with Rob Daviau to make sure that my facts were correct.
Rampage! The Retro Arcade Classic: Board Game Edition
A look at Terror in Meeple City, drawing comparisons between it's wonderful theme and the retro arcade classic Rampage.
You Can’t Take the Sky From Me: Firefly the Game
