If I were less lazy, I'd go back and find the post where I called this back when they announced two print on demand heroes that looked like half an expansion worth of content they wanted to rush out the door before the other shoe dropped.

But I won't.

Never been a big Warhammer fan, but I liked this game a lot and it definitely needs expansions to reach its full potential

The Conquest LCG coming to an end will be a big hit to some communities as LCGs really depend on regular releases and publisher support.

Didn't realize Fury of Dracula was licensed. The latest edition is outstanding and it's sad to see it will no longer be offered. At least the game feels "complete" as is.

Will people really stop playing this game now that now expansions are no longer to be offered?

I don't understand how the gameplay "ends" with that knowledge...???

I will continue to play THIS (Warhammer Quest: ACG) and Death Angel for YEARS... with nearly 200 plays between the two of them I plan to have at least double that eventually.

Good games stay good games forever.

And with computerized versions like Vassal and Tabletop Simulator in existence you can expect to be playing long after card versions decay and crumble.

Just sayin'

Don't think that this game would be too hard for FF to re-skin though... and continue with the mechanics. Unfortunately it would require another base kit though.

Really bummed by this as one more campaign would have really added to the replay value. Either way I should be able to get plenty of plays out of it. I just went ahead and placed an order for the 2 additional character packs just to make sure I could get them.

Like the rest of the world, I don't understand GW. How much money were they making from FFG games? Some of these games did really well, and now they're just dead.

I'm sure they were making very little from FFG games. A rounding error in their overall revenue and profits. The advantage to them of the existing relationship would be that it might help generate awareness of their brands and sell their own products. But the advantage of terminating the relationship might be that they think they can do more with the brands themselves, and keep the profits rather than only a small fraction. Or they might conceivably have a more profitable licensing arrangement already lined up with someone else.

GW doesn't seem to realize that it's not the 90's anymore and that they're not the 500 pound gorilla they used to be. I can't imagine this is going to be anything but a huge monetary loss for GW given that Fantasy Flight was putting out more Warhammer games than they were.

That said, it really sucks that we're not going to see any official expansions. More campaigns would really help the replayability.

I don't disagree, and it'll be a shame for these games to suddenly dead-end. Although it's clear GW are making a fresh entry into the market with a frenzy of boxed game releases of late. And they're supporting them with expansions & bonuses in their White Dwarf magazine (in particular their first issue after switching back to monthly publication).

Seems to be part of their new ethos & strategy, so I'm not entirely surprised that they want to try things their own way, fully under their own control. I'll watch with interest, though I fear they'll struggle to match the quality & support given to FFG releases.

Just some areas they'll have to evolve & develop if that's their ambition. Paint & plastic don't rank highly on many of our requirements for a quality & entertaining boardgame.

I could see a bright future for Warhammer Quest The Adventure Card game with FFG, but after having visited a GW store to see the latest Warhammer Quest incarnation (yes, I do feel dirty now), and finding out how much it was and quickly turning about and walking out, I feel there's no hope for WQTACG - I for one won't be paying their extortionate prices.

(Lots of games) times (tiny amount per game) still doesn't add up to much.

GW's actual revenue comes from collectible products that have very high margins and also sell large quantities to each player. A board game licensing deal isn't going to measure up to that.

Have you been paying attention to FFG prices lately? They aren't as high as some of the GW boxed games yet, but they sure are getting close. And GW is actually releasing some small, more reasonably priced boxed games (Lost Patrol, Gorechosen for example). I'm kind of curious to see where they'll go with their Specialist line (though to be honest I'm not terribly optimistic).

Not sure I understand your train of thought. I simply assume they had started development on an expansion but saw what was going to happen and realized they didn't have time to make money off of it, or even be able to sell it more than a few months. They decided to finish off two heroes that were the most complete and recoup some of the cost of development by offering them as print on demand while they still could.

Just a guess, but probably not far off.

What a lot of here are forgetting, the fault could be at FFG or Asmodee.

If you read the finance Report from GW the dont earn Money with their games, they get even. The last 2 years their Profits were depending from licences.

But Asmodee is bigger than GW now. FFG has 2 Minature games with xwing and Armada and a hidden one with star wars. All These games hurt the warhammer player base. I know these games keep me away.

Of course my favorite game is the one FFG card game without a bajillion expansions. I'm glad I got it, though.

I had Space Hulk & the expansions in my cart ready to buy, was browsing the forums looking for anything else to add. Tried to checkout as soon as I saw this thread, but it was already too late. The sharks are gobbling up whatever copies of these games are still out there, it seems.

Real shame that "normal folk" may not ever get the chance to play some of these games. WHQACG is a real gem, and I've heard good things about some others too.
