Combat is different, with cards. I don't see how you could pull it off.

The general feel of the game (cat and mouse hunting) is the same, there are a lot of little changes that add up to a completely different game.

The map is quite different.

As are the day/night cycle.

Weapons/combat are now different as well.

No more encounter chits...they are now encounter cards that have all game data right on them (best improvement to the game in my opinion).

It's very much a different game. Not that 2nd isn't a great game in it's own right...just different. I have both and i'm keeping both.

You can always try to snag a copy before they go out of print, play it, and if you hate it make a small fortune off of it in a year or so...
