Herald Lurker at the Threshold The All-in-one and One-in-All Start of Game add Reckoning Deck, 3 Dark Pact decks, and Power Tokens. Characters may seek the Lurker’s help. If they do, they make a dark pact that MIGHT cause the group more problems. Gates are more difficult to close and seal, and require a draw from the Reckoning deck when they open.

Ancient Old One Ithaqua Icy Winds While Ithaqua slumbers, the bitter winds cause all that stand in the streets to feel the pain. Until Ithaqua is vanquished, the outlook for the weather is FRIDGID!

Frustrated, Carolyn Fern stares at the stacks of files, diaries, and scribbled notes that were sorted on the table in the small office. The orderly assigned to bring her the files on the vagrant she had treated in Providence had been overly helpful. She had to stop him from going back for more when the table filled and threatened to spill onto the floor. She could tell when she was given the run around. Just as she was about to give up, a report caught her eye. It seems that the man she only knew as "Rattles" had formed some kind of friendship with a female inmate named Tyne Glancy. Summoning the orderly, she asked to speak with Tyne.
Tyne looked to be a very healthy woman approaching middle age. While she seemed quite aware of herself and her surroundings, occasionally she almost looked as if she were looking through not only the people around here, but the very walls themselves.
Calmly Tyne explains how, just a month ago, she had been in the hospital for a heart-related illness. One night she remembers waking from a nightmare, only to find that she hadn't been asleep after all. The more she went into detail, the more agitated she got. Finally, babbling incoherintly, Carolyn can only make out the word "Reckoning".
As she turns to leave, Tyne's mind seems to clear for a short moment. "Take this. It probably won't help, but it can't hurt!" She shoves a canvas bag with a couple items in it.
When she got outside, Carolyn looked in the bag. Inside was a heavy stone slab covered in strange letters. As she removed the slab, her heart skiped a beat! Underneath is a stick of dynamite!

HEADLINE - Compass Needles Point South! (Carolyn chooses Rex Murphy and Tommy Muldoon to exchange locations)

Stories of strange sounds and oddly colored fog around the Graveyard catch Rex Murphey's attention. He heads to the Police station to try to get the scoop! He just misses Tommy, who went to visit Rex at the newspaper to tip him about the hint of information at the Unvisited Isle! Will he EVER catch a lucky break?

Day 1

Outside the Asylum, Carolyn speaks with one of the doctors. “For a small donation to my research, I can help you sort through the paperwork and find what you are looking for.” Weighing the ethics against her desire to figure out what pushed Rattles over the edge, she decides to go get a small loan from the Bank of Arkham. As she walks up the steps, she feels a tug at her overcoat. Looking down, she eyes Wendy Adams. “Gee Miss, you have a lot on your mind! You almost knocked me over.” As she scampers away, Carolyn doesn’t notice that her pocket, the one that held the dynamite, was empty.

Rex Murphy, muttering about his bad fortune, decides to do a bit of leg-work. Independence Square is usually busy this time of day, and there are usually a few people gossiping. If you know just where to stand, you can get a lead on something interesting to write about. As he enters the square, he notices a gleam under one of the bushes. Digging around, he uncovers a pocket watch. The inscription was hard to read, but he DID make out a name and date. The date was decades ago, and the name was of one of Arkham’s councilmen, famous for disappearing years ago! Maybe Rex’s luck was changing!

Norman Withers feels drawn towards the French Hill. Strange noises seemed to get louder as he approached the street. Just as a bitter blast of cold air almost knocked him off his feet, a dark shape swooped out of the sky! He had just enough of a glimpse to see an almost insectlike body and leathery wings. It landed just across the street, and was turning his way.

Daisy Walker left the Library, determined to find information about the strange tome she had been given. Inside the cover was a small postcard with a picture of an island. As she walked the streets, she passed by the waterfront and there it was, the island in the picture! Rushing, she started looking around for anything that might help her. Losing her balance, Daisy tripped and hit her head. Coming around, dhe found a stranger kneeling over you. As she coughs up water she didn’t remember swallowing, he says “You were DEAD! I saw you floating in the water, and did everything I could to help, but you almost didn’t make it!” You remember flashes of vision, and in the flashes you remember a faceless man reciting strange words. Powerful words. Alien words! If there is any truth to the visions, you now have the power to help others fight, or to make yourself almost unstoppable! Suddenly the island seems to fade from view and she finds herself lying somewhere undescribable!

Tommy Muldoon leaves the newspaper to find some action! Bored with regular patrols, he decides to hop on his motorcycle and head for the Black Cave. There are miscreants and vagabonds hiding in the caves, and nothing clears his head more than shaking down a bum! Wandering through the caves, he can’t believe how empty they are. Off to the side there is a small, little used passage that seems to have daylight at the other end. Pushing forward, he tries to squeeze through, but gets stuck! GREAT! He continues to struggle, but it looks like he is in for a long night. In the fading light, he looks down and finds a scroll with “Call Down the Storm” written on it!

As Wendy Adams speeds off, she tries to get as much distance between her and Miss Fern. Running to the Witch House, she hides behind the shed and looks at what she found. A stick of DYNAMITE! Not what she was looking for, but it MIGHT come in handy. Looking through the door, she finds an old journal that rats had been using for nesting material. In the back, tucked into the cover she found a scrap of paper. She can just make out the letters “Sigil of Hermes Trismegistus”. As she tries to sound them out, she gets an image of a gate of light being closed!

MYTHOS

Alien Technology is discovered and taken to the Science Building. Powerful waves wash over Arkham and whispers are heard in the shadows
.
Mi-Go MI-Go MI-GO

The waves seem to coalesce at the Unvisited Isle! As one woman disappears, a man kneeling beside her seems to turn an ugly greenish grey. Ghoulish features take hold as spirits and ghosts flicker in the trees!
In the Graveyard, a woman visiting her family tomb seems to take on a similar transformation as a giant shambling creature wanders out of the fog.

Stay tuned for Day 2

Day 2

Stopping at Hibb’s Roadhouse for a cup of coffee, Rex pulls out the Old Journal he has been carrying around. Before he knows it, half the day has passed while he reads it. Suddenly all the pieces fall in place! He HAS to get back to the newspaper! This could be the story that finally makes his name famous!

Seeing no way to avoid the beast, Norman pulls the shotgun up just in time to cut it in half! Stumbling out of the street, he finds himself in the graveyard in front of a tear in the air. Stepping through, he finds himself in the middle of a city made of strange rocky material. Shadowy shapes flit from building to building. In the center of the square he is standing in is a statue. On the base, in a language he doesn’t understand, he sees an ugly looking symbol.

Daisy, finding herself on the edge of a vast plateau, feels the ground under her feet give away. Slipping down an icy slope, she hits the ground HARD! Could this day get any worse?

Finally, Tommy stumbles into a chamber that leads outdoors! Unfortunately the bats that live here don’t like to be disturbed. Blinded by the swarm, he bounces off the wall beside the door, injuring his knee. Just as he finds his way outside, he realizes that he isn’t in Arkham any more. In fact, nothing looks like the world he knows.

Wendy knows that she needs to keep moving, and finds herself at the Science Building. Climbing through an open window, she finds herself in a laboratory with flashing lights and a rushing sound. Just as she moves to see what is causing it, a swirling vortex shrinks with a loud POP! But not before she sees a glimpse of a sky with two suns above what looks like a mountain of oddly shaped blocks. Out of the corner of her eye, she finds a Silver Key lying on the floor.

Carolyn rushes back to the Asylum. After paying the doctor who hands her the file on Rattles. Reading through it, she figures out the cure that eluded her. Feeling Blessed, she vows to take what she has learned and help wherever she can.

MYTHOS
Police Helpless to Displace Vagrants. Rumor has it that a huckster has set up shop in the Downtown Streets. The Black Cave had strange lights and sound coming from it, and the strange stories of monsters has the town frightened! (Terror +1)

Day 3

Taking back the streets!

Reaching into his pocket, Norman hastily struggles to read the words said to reveal gates to and from other worlds. As a howling wind begins to shake the building tops around him, a rip in the air in front of him reveals the graveyard he left behind. Gathering his courage, and striking down a Ghoul that gets in his way, Norman steps through and remembers the symbol from the base of the statue. Drawing it in the dirt, the gate behind him closes.

Wandering away from the plateau, Daisy trips over a pile of dirt and grass. Seeing a gleam under the grass, she explores the lump and finds 2 told ingots! Feeling herself slipping into a daydream, Daisy imagines a shadowy figure offering to explain the strangeness around her. She awakens to whispers in the back of her mind seeming to ease her terror.

Clearing his head, checks his surroundings. Alien shapes and colors seem to bend and flow around him. The only clear shape he sees is a terrible shape with tentacles. Sneaking up on the sleeping figure, he quietly pulls a small package from one of the appendages. Inside he finds strange coins with writing that looks . . . wrong.

Moving quickly, Wendy finds herself in the Merchant District streets. Before she can look around, a man in a long robe and strange headgear shouts and runs toward her. Without thinking, she lights the dynamite she “borrowed” from Carolyn and throws it at the man. After she picks herself up off the ground and she can hear again, she notices only a pile of rags and a smoking pile of ash.

Stopping at the Curiousity Shoppe, Carolyn peruses the shelves. The owner approaches her and offers to sell her a mirror she might find helpful. Looking into the mirror, she sees . . not her reflection, but images of a alien landscape. Nervously she backs away and heads for the door.

As Rex enters the Newpaper office, the editor rushes to him and offers the story of a lifetime! Top dollar for any eyewitness stories about the strange happenings in Arkham. Rex has to meet the deadline on the story he already has, and tells Doyle Jeffires that he will talk to him after he files it. As he walks toward his desk, he overhears Doyle speaking to one of the other reporters… It seems there isn’t enough time in a day to take on every story. “Extra Extra” Rex begins to type …

MYTHOS

Headline Merchants March on Crime! All monsters in the Merchant District have been chased off by shopowners. A couple of strange men have set up a table in Independence Square.
Strange sounds are heard in Independence Square.

I apologize for the LONG delay... It seems that an AOO decided to interfere with my ability/desire to maintain the pace of game & narrative. I am attempting to pick it up (I am just glad I have a space to be able to leave it set up on) this week. If I can just remember what I had planned to do next. Please stay tuned!
