Being a card game, does this game die with the discontinuation of the GW/FFG partnership? Seems the two character expansions are all sold out/oop now too.

Does the base game have enough variety and replay-ability, or was this system banking on expansions? How many plays might an average gamer get out of this game sans expansions?

thanks!

Play the campaign game (5 scenarios) three times and you're done with it. Then play the various quests available here on the geek. You'll get 30 hours of fun out of it before it get's boring ... not that bad I'd say.

My little estimation meeple

I haven't touched the game after completing the campaign once. I got my money's worth but it definitely needed another campaign. I can see myself playing through it again eventually. Also there is a condensed campaign in the form of a quest called Delve Quest which offers some more replay value.

I can't say it's 100% worth it all things considered but worth considering.

I'd agree with the others, about 30 plays or so and then maybe another cycle through after it rests for a while. But it appears the 2 mini-expansions are already drying up so if you have to play inflated prices for it, I'd have to say no.

If you can pick up the base game for less than £25 ($35)I would say go for it, definitely. Don't bother paying over the odds for the two Hero expansions - they're not that great in my opinion.

I am so sorry for the companies which translated the base game in different languages and started selling the game not long ago.
The "expansions" won't be translated at all.
So some board game players are even more affected as we are.

I snagged a copy plus the two character expansions right after the official announcement of the split. I know others have said the game could have used another official expansion but I think there is enough to make it worth my time and money, regular MSRP or less, not the current sky high prices. Add in the fan made scenarios and again I think there is plenty to do.

I never understand why a game "dies" when it stops getting expansions. I played games for years that only ever had a base game, expansions were never even dreamed of.

Granted when the game has you playing through scenarios and campaigns more is better for the overall longevity of the game.

My plan is to play until I'm burned out, place it on the shelf and pull it out a year later and do the same. Overtime it's money well spent.

My wife and me love the game (we bought immediately the expansions) and we will play again once in while but the disappointment for not getting even one decent expansion is so big that I would not recommend the game to a potential buyer.

You will like the game, its mechanics, you will feel satisfied after winning the campaign the first time, still interested after trying with different characters and maybe you will solve the delve quest (with the same pattern) a couple of times and try the variants on bgg.

But soon you will arrive at a point when you will realise how wonderful this game could have been with a single expansion. A punch straight on your face, you will see it coming but you won't be able to avoid it.

Then you will come back frustrated to play other games (with a better replayability) coming back to WQACG with a regret feeling once in while blaming FFG and GW for "fooling" you.

No, definitely not worthy in my opinion.

It seems if there were any future expansions, beyond extra characters, it would be mainly focused on additional campaigns with supporting cards -- items, monsters, locations. It seemed the initial four characters were fixed and you wouldn't see any additional cards for the base heroes in an expansion. Maybe they would have dropped on the market a few stand alone heroes and then produce a small box upgrade with a new campaign plus a hero or two.

While additional characters are always nice and I would have enjoyed playing some of the different Warhammer classes/careers, I didn't see them making that many different character types to play. The character abilities are a bit limited and it would seem pretty quickly they would hit a wall how different they could make the heroes. This game really was built around the premises of having new campaign expansions coming in the future.

As it stands I think it is worth buying just the base for it's normal price. I don't see it being worth a premium for the game play as it stands -- if there were tons of expansions or if there was something truly unique about it would be worth more.

I've played the campaign six times with different character combinations. One of the campaigns was with two people, five were solo. Still have to try with three and four characters. I've played the Delve Quest twice. I haven't got around to any of the fan material yet.

I'm many, many hours away from done with it.

I'm expecting the same results. Nice to hear others having these results.

Agreed. The game should be worth MSRP. Many reviews raved about the game and the mechanics.

Would actually say yes. Get it. It is worth it. It will most likely be a game you enjoy, many times. Even though it may not will be made more official Expansion Packs/Boxes for it, there are some fanmade packs for it, and am sure there will be fans that will make more for it in the future.
Who knows, perhaps another company will be given the licence to be able to make some great Expansions for it. Or perhaps even GW themselves will do so. It is certainly money for them to earn on this Cardgame title.

Anyway, whatever you do.
Ask yourself this: Will I regret it laters if I do NOT get it while it is still easily available?

I think this is a solid game that stands on its own as a quality co-op experience. While there may only be the one campaign and the delve quest that can be replayed over and over for variety, there's still enough meat there to make it interesting. And like others have said, there is fan content out there to be enjoyed, and it is possible others will create further content (if that is your worry).

I don't have any experience with the character expansions that were created, so I cannot say one way or the other on picking those up. However, I think the base game is worth it. Also, like others have said, I think the base game is worth it at its normal price; I don't think I would pay a steep premium for it, though.

Depends on how dedicated you are ...
I managed to get a copy in the initial release 10 months ago, and I haven't exhausted the game yet.
And that is without touching the official or fan-made expansions.

What a bummer... I was thinking on getting Warhammer Quest: ACG next year, wasn't expecting all of this :\

Should I still get the game or save my little budget for Arkham Horror LCG? The later will give me more replayability for sure.

I have played the campaign and I was really impressed. The game did a great job creating the atmosphere of the Warhammer World.

I will buy the Arkham Horror LCG for sure. But I will not part with my Warhammer Adventure Card game. Never meeple

Lol, Arkham Horror may be my first LCG, really waiting for more reviews.
I will probably get Warhammer too, but not right now hope next year it will be still available(not)...in fact getting it now, play it and sell it next year for a bigger/similiar price, maybe isn't a bad ideia XD

If you can found it in second hand status or at a bargain price, it's worth the money.
You also have some fans made scenarios and I hope some character expansions to come (if I can have the money to buy a cheap workstation, I will create fan made scenarios and character expansions - need the money... whistle ).
I hope that the reviving of Games Specialist would help the previous published games from FFG to be somewhere "life substained". That would be great (and would bring money $£€ to GW too!!!).
So, YES, you can buy this game and play it for hours.
