I am done collecting data at this point. If you'd like to participate in the poll:

https://boardgamegeek.com/article/23747697#23747697

I will make a poll based off the responses given by the BGG community to this post. I am looking for opinions from the community for the best/funnest asymmetrical game for mainly 2 or 3 players. I'd like to exclude LCGs, CCGs, ECGs, or any other format with a ton of expansions. The more asymmetrical the better. Let me start the list off with some that I like or are aware of. Hopefully after a page or two of responses, I will make the poll.

Claustrophobia
Stronghold (2nd edition)
Forbidden Stars
A Few Acres of Snow
Scythe
Fury of Dracula (third edition)
Letters from Whitechapel
Ghost Stories: Black Secret
Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition)
The Voyages of Marco Polo

Well Twilight Struggle has been No 1 on BGG for several years, so I feel it kind of won that one already?

Two personal favorites of mine though:

Trieste - a really unique 3 player only card game. Each player has a unique deck of cards and a unique win condition.

As mentioned Star Wars: Rebellion for two players and I would suggest Churchill for three players.

Huh??? I counted 41 in the Descent family for Second Edition. Granted, most of them are small, but...still.

Vast: The Crystal Caverns. Some roles lose a bit when others aren't in the game though. The sweet spot is really 4, but it's decent at 3.

Good catch! I shall strike it from the poll.

The original Netrunner was technically a CCG, but it played so well with just a starter set and is such a fantastic asymmetrical design that it would be a shame not to include it on your list.

While what you say may be true, the line must be drawn somewhere. I'd like for the list to ultimately yield a handful of games that people can readily invest in without the feeling that there is a whole lot of content they are missing out on.

D-Day Dice along with the D-Day Dice: Atlantikwall expansion.

If you can find a copy that's not too expansive since it's been out of print since the last 2 years and prices are starting to go up (though not yet at the crazy point)... and i highly doubt it's going to be reprinted since the publisher doesn't exist anymore.

In the base game, players play cooperatively to try to reach the german bunker.
With the Atlantik expansion, one player plays the germans trying to stop the invading allies.
It's essentially a tower defense game where you either attack or defend.

The game is also awesome solo and goes up to 4 players (5 with the expansion). Plays great at all numbers.

This.

But light as in wargamer-light, right? It comes in at a weight of 3.50 in the BGG weight index, which most eurogamers would think is a fairly heavy game. I also note after looking at a few reviews that the playing time seems to be 4+ hours for the most.

Just don't want the OP to get the wrong impression here... It could, of course, be exactly what he is looking for.

Cry Havoc is, at least, somewhat asymmetrical.

If you have Descent, you can also add Star Wars: Imperial Assault, of course, even though it is pretty much the same thing.

The upcoming Conan is a similar type of game as well.

Bye
