Special solo mode:

Fields of Arle

Glass Road

Agricola

Merchant of Venus

Firefly: The Game

Cooperative games:

Elder Sign

Pandemic: The Cure

Most cooperative games can be played very well solo, even the huge ones like Arkham Horror or Eldritch Horror.

There is also a category for solitaire games:

Well, there's not much to go on as far as your tastes are concerned so I will just offer a suggestion for a game that I've been playing recently that meets your criteria: Peloponnes Card Game.

It actually plays up to five but works well with two and is good solo game (with the official rules given here: https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/120448/english-rules). City state/engine building game amidst the backdrop of the threat of disasters such as earth quakes and tempests.

There's the whole Oniverse game collection: Onirim (second edition), Castellion, Sylvion, Urbion and Nautilion. All basically solo games that can be played co-op with 2 players. And I'm sure there will be more in the future.

Definitely Ember From the Ashes. I've just downloaded thePyramid Rules and the're really hard but awesome-sauce.

The expansion is on KS right now.

The stuff that is between your legs.

I think we'd need to know more about what you like before answering Otherwise this has been asked a ton of times so a quick browse should give you decent answers.

Do you have any preferences about the theme and/or mechanics?

I just got Helionox: The Last Sunset, which is a great little deckbuilder for 1-2 players, and I'm loving it.

If you like worker placement, I'd suggest Snowdonia. The solo gameplay is essentially the same as the multiplayer game (which scales well from 2-5).

There's no simple explanation for anything important any of us do, and yeah the human tragedy consists of the necessity of living with the consequences, under pressure, under pressure. -Courage (For Hugh Maclennan): The Tragically Hip

SOS Titanic is really great for what you're after. I highly recommend it.

If you like a sci-fi theme better, then look into Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game.

Hope this helps.
