Space Base Mutiny
Space Base Mutiny is a game that is sent (send?) to you as a plastic postcard. It’s a game about controlling space spaces to gain control of its special power which you can use to influence the board. Space Base Mutiny is only 1 USD!
Glorantha: The Gods War
Sandy Petersen’s new game ‘The God’s War’ is raising over half a million dollars. The asymmetrical strategy miniatures board game set in the mythic cult universe of Glorantha is doing very well and it sure does look the part. There’s some very nice miniatures there and the game promises fast strategic game play. The God’s war core game is 125 USD and there’s for another 300 or so to be added on in various expansions, which offer all new empires to play with.
Next, Gadgeteers is a blind bidding game where it’s your goal to build a collection of quirky gadgets by gathering the necessary resources. Completed a gadget? Use it in the rest of the game to aid your quest to become the ultimate tinkerer. The game has a lovely theme draped over it and overall the reviews were very positive! Gadgeteers is 19 USD.
Unfair is a game about building your own theme park. Combine rides from 6 different themes and build the park of your dreams but beware, your competition will do anything to prevent your park being cooler than theirs by bribing inspectors or even sending hooligans. Whatever happens, it’s bound to be Unfair. It’s 49 USD.
Area 51: Top Secret
The final board game is Area 51 - Top Secret. The strategic board game about storing alien artifacts is still a bit short on funding but i must admit it sort of intrigued me. The board is of a very unusual design and I like the overall feel the game gives. Build bunkers, buy trucks and trains to make sure your dangerous artifacts are safely stored underground. Area 51 - Top Secret is 35 EUR.
Iliad: Heroes of Troy
The Final campaign is a game called Iliad - Heroes of Troy. A simple, yet deep card game based on the epic poem by Homer. Each card in the game represents a (beautifully drawn) major character from the poem with which you engage in battle, prove your piety, smite your foes and guide the Heroes of Troy. Iliad - Heroes of Troy is 9 USD for the standard version, with which you still need to provide a box and point tokens or 14 for the Deluxe one. The standard edition is only available in the states.
